A Catastrophe In America!

SOME SAY JESUS IS NO LONGER THE REASON FOR THE SEASON
IN AMERICA!

On June 28, 1870, an act of Congress declared December 25th to be a national holiday called Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Without Jesus, there would be no reason to celebrate December 25th as a national holiday. Jesus was and still is God's Gift offered to all.
WHAT CHRISTMAS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE!

Christmas was originally supposed to be a day off from work to celebrate the birth of Jesus, attend church services, exchange Christmas cards, sing Christmas carols, view the baby Jesus in the manger, and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Christmas is not our birthday – it's the birthday of Jesus. If you are a born-again Christian, you have already received the greatest gift – Christ living in your heart.
WHAT CHRISTMAS HAS BECOME.

The date of Christ birth is not known. The Gospels indicate neither the day or month... According to the hypothesis suggested by H. Usener ... and accepted by most scholars today, the birth of Christ was assigned the date of winter solstice (December 25 in the Julian calendar, January 6 in the Egyptian) because on this day, as the sun began it's return to northern skies, the pagan devotees of Mithra celebrated the dies natalis Solis Invicti (birthday of the invincible sun).

On Dec 25, 474, Aurelian had proclaimed the sun-god principal patron of the empire and dedicated a temple to him in the Campus Martius. Christmas originated at a time when the cult of the sun was particularly strong at Rome.

We all should be grateful and thankful to God everyday for sending Jesus to save us. Jesus did that and remained faithful and obedient to God and we should follow his example. Thank you Bill and Teddy for your post in the SE community.

  • What a fabulous piece, of which I agree with wholeheartedly! Keep spreading the good news!
