Thank you for all you've done for us... I am an 83-year-old widow...  As a young white girl growing up in a vanilla community, I didn't know about racism, bigotry, or prejudice until I moved away because there was nothing being taught in school about race... I'm grateful to my Sunday School for teaching me that all men are created equal... I didn't even realize things like those existed until I moved away from home...

As I grew older I realized this is our nation's greatest sin... I have so much respect for the people of color in our country... With all the adversity they've known their faith only seems to increase & makes them stronger... When I was young the only time I would see people of color was when they were entertaining on TV... That's how I first learned of the Staple Singers & I was hooked... I have loved black music ever since...

I keep praying what he taught will ring throughout our country someday... When will we learn, United We Stand, Divided We Fall?

Thank you for helping me celebrate!

I am an 83-year-old, Extraordinarily Happy Networker, Senior Blogger & Mentor in Training... I have almost 32 years of personal development and recovery under my belt... I'm a firm believer in one is never too old to learn... I've recently progressed from mourning the loss of my friend, Tom Barabas to celebrating his very accomplished life and that made me feel better... He brought so much beauty and pleasure into so many lives with his music... You can find his music videos on youtube under Tom Barabas...

Yes he was a great man in the eyes of so many people. The great things he did for ALL people, not just for black people. He believed in equaltiy for all people, it's a shame that more people don't feel and believe this. There is no such thing as one race being dominant over the other. We're all the same in God's eyes. Amen.

Yes, Terri, he opened my eyes to many things I wasn't aware of & thanks to the internet & Youtube whenever I have a question, or there's something I don't understand the answer is available to me right at my fingertips...  I have friends of many colors & nationalities...  I can learn something from many cultures that I wouldn't know if I only listened to white people...  I have much to be grateful for...  Thank you for being my friend...  :D

I looked up the word staple in Webster's Dictionary...  One of the definitions for this noun is; something having widespread and constant use or appeal...  This explains why this family became so important to me...  They have helped to nourish my spiritual being...

I'm so glad you enjoyed the videos, George...  I think I will always owe a debt of gratitude to The Staple Singers...  Their message songs hit their mark in my soul.    Since I've been doing much of my research on YouTube I've discovered an entire encyclopedia of information about civil rights I wasn't aware of...  I feel like I've struck the Mother Lode...  I absolutely love YouTube if for that reason alone...  :D
