Somewhere in between consciousness & sleep as I laid down to rest my body for awhile...  I liked to sleep with the TV on & back then it was The Merve Griffin Show...  His featured guest was CW McCall who was especially popular back then...  As I was slipping into an ethereal state of sleep CW was performing this song...  I only heard the sound of his voice narrating this song in the background as I drifted off into a dreamlike state...  I had never experienced this in person, though I would have loved it...

I'm recovering from a few different health issues since before Christmas so I'm not quite up to full speed yet...  I laid down yesterday afternoon, TV on again & playing on my music channel was The Soundtrack from A Field of Dreams which is one of my favorites...  When I felt myself slipping into that dreamlike state once again, I suddenly remembered the former song that I'll never forget, I suddenly got up to go to my computer & document this...  I felt an urgent need to share this...  When this song ended I felt the need to look at some more of his songs from the mid seventies...  I was truly rewarded when I came accross this next song,

I had a close friend of mine who grew up in the west & she was a geologist by education...  All my life I had dreamed about living out west...  When I moved to Florida it was in September of 1981 & I knew better than to move to Colorado just before the snow flies looking for work...  I was raising Dobermans back then from her dogs' bloodlines...  She showed me all around Colorado & Wyoming when we would travel to the various dog shows in the midwest & beyond...  I fell in love with our Rocky Mountains though I never got to see the western slopes where this railroad train ran...  She told me this was America's last narrow guage line in the country...  I always dreamed of taking that train just to be able to say I did it...  I never had even seen  photos of it but now that's all changed...  This will always be part of my fantasy about the west...  This train ran from Silverton to Durango, Colorado...  Thank you for letting me share my fantasies with you...

Please indulge me here...

I couldn't leave without playing these by CW McCall...

Thank you Linda - just wonderful! You sure know how to ring my bell. Two things - My home town's anthem is 'The Northern Lights Of Old Aberdeen', so I need say no more about my familiarity with the awesome beauty of the aurora borealis. Second - trains! One of my great passions, especially old time steam trains of course. The Silverton train in the Rockies looks absolutely spectacular, now that is a sight to behold. The music is pretty good too!

Tom, you are so very welcome, my friend...  I got just a small glimpse of the Northern Lights in Wisconsin, you see they don't usually make it that far south...  I thought he did a marvelous job with that narration & the photos are magnificent...  As for the train, after I watched that I took the rest of the afternoon off & went for a train ride for about an hour & a half, courtesy of Youtu.be...  That was a real treat for me, even though it wasn't in person...  Like I said, I fell in love with our Rocky Mountains...  They are simply magnificent...  I know Amtrak has many Streamliners but, like you, I think the old steam engines are far more romantic...  They bring to my mind all the people who toiled to turn them into a reality...  In spite of the negativity so prevalent in our country these days, i t's our rich history that mekes me  proud of America...  These dark times will pass...  I have an everlasting faith in God, that sometime, somehow he will intervene & make things right...I'm going to send you a song that describes America to me abaolutely perfectly...  It was arranged & played by an extremely talented black man even though his race has always been demonized in this country...  Our country would be nothing if it weren't for the diversity of our citizens...  All of them have contributed so much to our culture...  They are what makes America so dear to my heart...  G'nite, Tom...

Our Memorial Day is coming up at the end ofthis month & I always get a little melancholy around this time...  Especially since my late husband was a Navy Seal who served in Vietnam for 37 months...  I guess this is my way of honoring him...  He passed away, it'll be twelve years ago November 18th..  Thank you for letting me rattle on...  I guess I need to get some sleep as I'm going to bed with some new ideas...  You have a wonderful day when you wake up...  I will also because I'll be doing something I love...  G'nite, Tom...
