As one who left high school after completing 10th grade, I have learned much from many sources because while I had quit public school, I was intent on educating myself because I realized the value it would hold in my life... I discovered many sources of interest that held my attention so learning new things would be easy for me... Ted Talks was one of many sources that absolutely changed my mind about some things I was taught as a child or I learned something totally new... I was raised in a Conservative Christian church... I was pretty much left to my own devices in my spiritual upbringing & I loved the Bible stories I learned in Sunday School... I lived in a vanilla world so I learned early on about prejudice & bigotry... I never understood it because Equality was what I was being taught - ...
All Men Are Created Equal!
As for the other religions, I didn't even know what a Muslim was until Cassius Clay became Mohammed Ali... I never even researched Islam because I didn't feel the need to... I have since learned the more I uncover the beliefs of others the less chance of my misunderstanding that person... If this idea could spread
throughout the world, there would be much less fear of "the other"...
In June 2019, Yusuf / Cat Stevens was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the Hall of Fame’s 50th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner as a member of the class of 2019 alongside Dallas Austin, Missy Elliott, Tom. T Hall, John Prine & Jack Tempchin. The accolade recognizes Yusuf’s tremendous gift for writing songs that have whispered gently into the hearts of millions worldwide throughout a glorious career that has spanned more than half a century.
While their music is timeless, unfortunately, the artists who create it are not...
It's widely known by now that a quarter of the Fleetwood Mac band, legendary singer /songwriter, Christine McVie, at 79, passed away on 11/30/2022
She left such a legacy of her talent in all the music she created & I'm
grateful for the library of the music of Fleetwood Mac... It will be
enjoyed by all for generations to come... Christine McVie will live on
through her God-given talent & will be sadly missed by all...

All good stuff Linda. The most striking part of your post for me is that which alludes to learning. To learn requires a mind open to hearing all points of view. When you know only your own side of a subject, then you know little - and understand even less. Without questioning and freedom of expression there can be no dissent, an essential element in open discussion and the happy living all peoples desire. So it's a joy to read your post. It's vibrant and original. Lot's of (good) food for thought, easy to digest and enlightening.
Thank you, Tom, for your remarkable comment about my post... I have a good friend of mine who is, Jamaican but who lives in Virginia Beach... He was trained in photography while serving in the U,S. Navy... He has since turned it into an art form in Nature Photography... He has a series of articles on Amazon & is encouraging me to publish my articles there... I'm seriously considering it... :D
I was not aware that Christine McVie passed, that is a loss, but she will be remembered, thanks, Linda. There are so many outstanding singers, every note is perfect, and she is undoubtedly among them.
I was truly sorry to pass that information on... Chevrolet is using her song, Everywhere, to advertise their cars... She was also a very talented songwriter...
