I can't even begin to understand this concept... I've learned

that even when I'm doing nothing, in reality, I'm doing

something...

Those who know me are fully aware of my love of music...

In allowing myself to do nothing, I give myself permission

to do that which I enjoy the most, letting my imagination

run wild...  My dad always told me he was proud of my

imagination so I figured I would learn all about it & expand

on it for my own enjoyment...  I never looked back!   Oh,

how I do love that feeling of freedom!  It makes me want to

Smile Happy!

I'm a city girl but I learned to enjoy nature also...

Everything needn't be covered with concrete!  We don't

need endless parking lots!  I've always loved traveling by

bike because by moving slower I'm able to better

appreciate my surroundings...  I had no difficulty with the

phrase, less is more!  Over a year ago I made up my mind

to give up driving so I could enjoy three things,

  1. being able to move at the pace I most enjoyed so I could learn to appreciate the beauty of where I live...

  2. I'm now able to enjoy life more fully because of the savings I'm realizing, car maintenance, insurance, price of gas, plus all the scenery I would miss while driving...

  3. I bought a used three wheeled recumbent trike with a huge basket in the back...  That trike has paid for itself at least 100 times over...

I've never regretted giving up my right to drive because it has enabled me to enjoy the independence I so love... Each day I'm grateful that I can still exercise by going to the store for my groceries & anything else I may need... I'm pretty much centrally located to anywhere I need to go & that was by design...

Now that I've given away my secret as to how I'm able to practice, Extraordinary Happyness on a daily basis, I must hop on my trusty trike & head to the produce stand for a watermelon, the best in the county... That's my reward for biking on such a hot day... Well, I'm off like a herd of turtles!

    Signing off 'til next time,

    Linda Michel White

I am an 83-year-old, Extraordinarily Happy Networker, Senior Blogger & Mentor in Training... I have almost 32 years of personal development and recovery under my belt... I'm a firm believer in one is never too old to learn... I've recently progressed from mourning the loss of my friend, Tom Barabas to celebrating his very accomplished life and that made me feel better... He brought so much beauty and pleasure into so many lives with his music... You can find his music videos on youtube under Tom Barabas...

Mirror Lake looks to me like a pretty good place to do nothing Linda! :-)

Thank you, Tom for leaving your comment... I imagined being at Mirror Lake to be twice reflecting... Once, looking into the lake on a calm day such as it seemed to be & see yourself looking back, the other being in that mental state of mind where only good memories abide... That's sort of like he who chops wood, is twice warmed... :D

And that my friend is called living a simple and happy life by enjoying each moment while doing what you love to do. I like the music video you shared.

Thank you, Terri for your thoughtful comment... The video is provided by my longtime friend, Microdac, the music by Leslie Butler, his cousin... They are also related to Harry Belafonte... WOW! I've been given permission to use any photos or videos that belong to him... I am certainly blessed with their talent... Gamble & Huff are one of my favorite sounds of Philadelphia... They created Soul Train which was one of my favorite shows... I love that big orchestra sound... :D

Thank you Linda. I enjoyed the moment at Mirror Lake, listening to soothing music. I love your outlook on life. One of my favorite quotes I heard from a friend is, "Security is not the things you can live with, but the things you can live without".
