Are you searching to start a great business with a great future, something you can be really proud of? Give a look at what Ted's Woodworking has to offer... I have a personal positive experience with this company...

My son-in-law, Art, was looking to make some extra money to help support his wife (my daughter & their four kids)... They had bought an old fixer-upper house & it had a garage... Art, when he was working, was a workaholic... Well, he developed diabetes & because of that he became legally blind...  It was through a case worker that took a real interest in him that he reached out to Blind Services through the State of Michigan for help...  They helped him build a workshop in his garage & provided him with the education he needed to operate the tools safely... I was fascinated by the hexagonal picnic table I saw years ago so I bought the plans & held onto them... After learning of what the State of Michigan was suggesting for Art I asked him if he would be interested in building the picnic table... He told me I should send the blueprints to him...

Well, he took on the project & completed it... It gave him such a sense of accomplishment, I had to to let him know how proud I was of him...  This was a long time ago & he has since succumbed to the disease, but the table became part of his legacy for his family to enjoy...

Now let me ask you, if a blind man can do this is there any reason you couldn't?

I'm a firm believer in one is never too old to learn... I've recently progressed from mourning the loss of my friend, Tom Barabas to celebrating his very accomplished life and that made me feel better... He brought so much beauty and pleasure into so many lives with his music... You can find his music videos on youtube under Tom Barabas...

In a world where there appears to be so many 'blind leaders leading the blind' Linda, readers could do no better than follow your guidance and the example of an actual blind person demonstrating the real capabilities of human mental and practical application. Self pity and victimhood are dead end roads, the light is revealed by those confronting life and applying themselves. You know that, so too did Art! BTW - wasn't his name just so appropriate for who he became?!

The real irony of this story is, through no fault of his own, Art only had a 3rd grade education but he never let that stop him...  :D

A great story and lesson of personal Triump Linda.  I agree with you you're never too old to learn in fact people have had some their greatest accomplishments over 40.  You are only limited by your mind and physical capabilities of course.  But as you pointed out in this Article, "if a blind man can do this, is there any reason you couldn't?"  Asking yourself that question in many situations will probably give you your answer.

Your last sentence says it all Robin!

I believe it Tom.  You see so many healthy, even young people, who act as though they can't do anything.  On the other hand you read about or know people who overcome, what seems to be insurmountable obstacles and achieve great things.

Thank you, Robin, for leaving your positive comment...  I think building that table helped Art to keep the focus off of his problems...  You know what I mean...  If I tell you not to look at the moon it's only human nature that we look at the moon...  I've learned over the years to replace that thought with something positive instead...  That helps me to maintain a positive attitude & a lot more peace of mind...  :D

I understand what you mean Linda.  You're right about human nature being, to do the opposite of what you're told.  Though sometimes it's good do the opposite of what your told.

I love this Story because it shows what you can accomplish in spite of obstacles placed in your way.  As long as you have your health you can have what you want in life.   Life doesn't come with guarantees that everything will be smooth, but you can control how you react to them.  And I do hear your positive message in your writings.
