Working to get to the weekend is not a formula for success.
However, that is what most of us are doing.
It's safe to say that most Americans hate their jobs.
Underpaid.....Overly demanding bosses....Toxic work environments....Aggravating coworkers...
All of these things weigh on our souls and we eventually check out.
Yet, I'm convinced that this was not God's ideal scenario for work.
If we look at the life of Adam before the original sin, we see that work was a privilege from God.
Adam was tasked with tending to the garden of Eden.
It seems that Adam enjoyed the privilege of tending to God's creation.
This tells us that God's ideal scenario for work was one of pleasure, joy, and fulfillment.
Check out my video below to see my thoughts on this topic.
The fall of man not only affected humanity, it also affected the work we do.
From my vantage point, work became tedious and difficult.
This points back to work being a grind for us.
All jobs are not bad.
It is that most of us are doing things that work that we are not called to do.
This is not a "quit your job" post.
This is a wake up call to find the work that God has given us to do.
That work is found inside of our gifts, talents, skills, personality traits.
Instead of just working for the weekend, we can commit to doing somethng outside of our 9-5 jobs that bring fulfillment and joy.
We don't have to quit our jobs in order to find fulfillment.
However, we do have to tap into what God has put inside of us.
