Firework Safety

Annually, hundreds are injured due to the use of fireworks.  Some of theses victims needing to have parts of their body amputated due to the power of the blast.

There has been many debates concerning the safety of using fireworks for years.

Firework Safety is a big issue because not only are there numerous injuries due to the result of using fireworks, but possibly even death can arise from the usage.  This is due to the fact that fireworks are composed of some highly-flammable materials.

Not only that, there is also the risk of fires taking place from the result of their usage.

The National Council on Fireworks Safety is a US-based organization whose aim it is to promote fireworks safety.

Four Firework Safety tips to be used in the handling fireworks are:

Firework Safety

1. Fireworks should never be lit indoors. This includes sparklers.

This is not only hazardous, but is known to cause fire if thrown into any flammable materials or surfaces.

2. Should only be allowed to be used by persons who are over the age of 12.

Realizing that the handling of sparklers can cause injury, if handled incorrectly.

3. Never mix drinking alcohol with the lighting of  any type of fireworks.

Understand that Drinking alcohol has a tendency to slow down your reaction time and could be extremely dangerous when handling fireworks.

In the Philippines back in December 2007, there were several stores selling fireworks which were reported burned down because a firework was accidentally lit.

Because of this incident several countries began to regulate the use of fireworks in their territories. The United States allows the use of fireworks, but, the use of fireworks is regulated state by state.

4. Just use some common sense. Along with a great deal of caution.

Firework Safety is a big issue and should not be ignored.  Take the necessary precautions and enjoy your firework displays.
