“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

I will be the first to admit that I’m not a very “religious” person though I consider myself a very “spiritual” one and I’m OK with that. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve always been that way and always will be. I never understood the differences between the many religions (nor do I particularly care) and definitely don’t want to sound like a hypocrite if I attempt to. My faith in God has been strong all of my life and without question, I know I wouldn’t be where I am in life today without Him. My faith in God, knowing Jesus Christ’s love for me, and experiencing the many Works of the Holy Spirit here on earth is what matters to me and everything else is secondary. I’ve been very blessed to be a part of a small but strong non-denominational church congregation near my home where I participate in its many great activities. I’m in charge of providing the music and operating the audio systems for Sunday services as well as moderate our powerful Burn Prayer Service every Tuesday evening. My beautiful wife Catrina teaches our awesome Wednesday night Bible Study Classes and sings on Sundays with our Praise and Worship Team. I’m also honored to be a part of the church’s Leadership Team. As you see, we are very involved in our church community and love every minute of it. And the anointing over our members is astounding!

You may never know where God can lead you if you don’t open your eyes and heart to receive what He has in store for your life. For example, something miraculous happened to me recently that changed my thinking as I heard a “Word” He gave me about a month ago towards the end of one of our weekly prayer services and I had to share it with everyone who was there. I heard God’s voice speak these words to me so clear as if someone stood next to me and whispered it into my ear saying, “When you least expect it…..expect it!” It was in a deep but audible voice and a powerful message that has stuck with me from that moment on. Those seven words has since resonated throughout our services, and even other church members use the simple but meaningful phrase. It’s become a sort of mantra that everyone has adopted. For me, it has a very special meaning because we may never know the outcome of our situations, but must continue to have faith that He will deliver whatever we need for our lives to overcome any obstacles put before us.

Last night during our weekly Burn Prayer Service, the Holy Spirit’s presence was very strong and powerful as usual, but there was “something different” in the air about this particular meeting. One of the couples who attend our church, Brother L.J. and his wife Tomeika were there and they are expecting their first child in about a week or two. I had no idea that towards the end of service, we would be having a wedding as well! It seems they was prepared as they had their marriage license with them and Pastor Lou just happened to bring the book containing the vows with him. It was an awesome occasion and though we only had 10 people there, you would have thought there were over a hundred people in attendance. This was a blessing that I was happy to be a part of. So many positive things like this has been appearing to me in different forms lately, and I the only thing I can think of is that it’s God moving His Mighty Hand over my life. I’ve always learned that if you are open to receive what God has for your life, family, business, and anything else you may be experiencing, the blessings can be endless. So whenever you “least expect it”…..always be ready to “expect” and receive God’s gift of many blessings because they will change your life forever! “A candle never loses its flame by lighting another candle.” Take the opportunity God has given you to share it with others and watch your blessings grow!

“On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free.” - Dan Lipinski

The past, present, and future of the United States is a constant reminder of the ultimate sacrifices of its Armed Forces. I come from a military family which have many who have serve in the various branches of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines as well as the Coast Guard. My father, all of his brothers, and other uncles and cousins of mine served in the different branches of the military, so I found it fitting for me to join the military right after high school. I served in the U.S. Air Force from June 1984 to February 1990 and have been stationed at Scott AFB, Illinois, Osan Air Base, South Korea, and Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. I’ve also been blessed to travel around the world to other military installations. And while I’ve had a great time in the military like my days as part of the Scott AFB Honor Guard and Precision Drill Teams, this day I have to reflect on the many friends and fellow military members who have died protecting our country’s borders as well as defending our nation’s security overseas. Many people take our country’s safety for granted. If it weren’t for those who volunteered to give their lives for the sake of our many freedoms, we would have much more chaos in our own country. I’m very proud to be a U.S. veteran, and there’s nothing that can replace the memories I hold dear to my heart during my time of service.

To me, Veteran’s Day is much more than what store has the best sales, the many BBQ’s and parties people will attend, and having a meaningless day off from work. If you’ve never worn a U.S. military uniform, you might not have any idea what it mentally takes to walk day-to-day in our shoes. When you decide to take the military oath to “defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”, you’ve made a 24-hour, 7-day a week commitment to protect our country, families, friends, businesses, and properties at all costs. Everyone isn’t cut out to be a U.S. service member. Our military is the most powerful fighting force in the world by far, and I’m honored to have served this country with the highest esteem. So the next time you see a U.S. veteran, thank them for volunteering to serve and protect you and your family. That’s the job of a military person, to serve and protect our citizens and country proudly. And though I’m no longer in “the service”, I still give thanks to those who continue to allow me and my family to live freely. I will never take this civil right for granted. Thank-you to all U.S. military members, active, deceased, and veterans for your service. We have a unique bond that can never be broken!

Are You Just Taking Up Market “Space”?

“We get paid for bringing value to the market place.” - Jim Rohn

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRRmja98UNsBwH-KI0thhMrcNWxI7zIDshS9ck90YDCyGcmPZn1dA

There are so many great companies in the world that give exceptional value to its customers. It’s one thing to sell a product that everyone needs, can afford it, and will use it whenever they need or want to. Then you have companies and its representatives who will sell you a “pipedream and a prayer” if you let them. I decided a long time ago that I will only market goods and services that (1) makes sense for peope to have; (2) is affordable to for entire marketplace; (3) people would be able to use it wherever they are and how often they wanted; and (4), it would be something I feel good about and would market for FREE! Yes, you read the last part right. I would tell people about my businesses because it’s the right thing to do if I NEVER got paid for it! At the end of the day, I would be spiritually “paid” (blessed) for my efforts. I share LegalShield and AmeriDoc with people because they give North American affordable accesss to a broken justice and healthcare system. People are hurting in so many areas of life and providing them with a great way to protect their families and businesses is a joy to me.

I bring value to the marketplace everytime I SHARE (not SELL) the services I offer. Selling is a transfer of belief between a product and a consumer. Transfering belief doesn’t bring value to anyone. I can sell you a worn-out used tire, but if you drive down the street and it bursts after putting it on your car, you may have done unneccessary damage. There’s nothing valuable about a busted tire and a damaged vehicle! I get paid very well for sharing legal and telemedicine services with individuals, but do much better when I share with small business owners, HR executives, and their employees. I choose to work more with employee group benefits and small business owners because I can bring so much more value to a company who’s worried about keeping its doors open every day and protecting their most important assets (their employees) than selling them lotions, potions, and the other stuff you can buy online, Costco, Wal-mart, and other places. If you want to be in business for the long haul, find a product or service you will be proud to stand behind. If you have to question if what you are selling is or isn’t right for you, chances are, it isn’t right for your prospects. Become the “go to person” in your town who is the “expert” in what you do. Where I live, I have virtually NO COMPETITION marketing LegalShield or AmeriDoc, unless they are on my team of course. Even then, I still get paid from earning overrides and residuals because I took time to build a large team. Take time to see where you can bring value to the marketplace and don’t waste your time taking up market ”space” with useless products and services.

“Technology is so much fun but we can drown in our technology. The fog of information can drive out knowledge.” - Daniel J. Boorstin

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQDZBQR2AItmFav8A7Igx6yjXVHKhQKaut3hCLBllXvQG_bsXghkQ

When I had my first taste of marketing and sales in 1979, there was no Internet, mobile phones, iPads, or any other technological conveniences available. And while I think that technology is great to make business more streamlined, many people have forgotten (or probably never knew) the art of face-to-face interaction. I’ve had the luxury of learning how to build relationships without all the extra tools marketers use today. And while building relationships is vitally important to business success, having a little “common sense” goes much farther than any electronic device. I often wonder if people today would have any success without relying on the Internet when building their businesses. We have become a society of “tech junkies” to the point that some technologies are now considered an “addiction” similar to drugs and other infirmities.

Now, I use systems like emailing, web meetings, conference calls, texting and more, like many others. The difference is I don’t let it consume my entire day. I believe it’s great to “stay connected” when you have to, but it’s also good to know when to turn it all “off” for a while. I may spend an average of 24-hours a day being connected to the Internet, but it doesn’t mean that I’m on the Internet for that time period! It’s good when you can let technology go from time to time and be free of the “digital distractions” that can consume you. Knowing when to use common sense should be one of your best attributes to running a business. Use technology as a “tool” to make your job easier; don’t use it to control and destroy your life and business.

“Employees are a company's greatest asset - they're your competitive advantage. You want to attract and retain the best; provide them with encouragement, stimulus, and make them feel that they are an integral part of the company's mission.” - Anne M. Mulcahy

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSV4p7QZq25E-mA5P83oHHWFOrONkXOtaRG40N6QO0zuuV8O9nR

I’ve been a salesperson for a very long time marketing employee group benefits for various companies from insurance to “Software as a Service” products to legal service plans. Because of my experience, I feel that there’s not much I can’t sell, but “benefits marketing” as I call it has been my niche over the years. You have to have a different mentality to market to companies and employees because it’s not about selling lotions, potions, soaps, or anything else you can buy at Costco, Wal-Mart, or anywhere else. This is a career you have to have compassion for because you are helping to protect families and their lives. You are making a living while making a difference.

I own a specialized benefits firm and have the option of deciding what services my associates sell. LegalShield, GoSmallBiz.com, and Kroll Advisory Solutions have been the service partners of GLG and Associates LLP (GLG) for almost 10-years now and we recently added AmeriDoc, a nationwide telemedicine physician’s service that has employee group benefit plans and plans for families and individuals in all 50 states as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. With the birth of the Affordable Care Act and healthcare reform in the United States now taking effect, I felt it would be a perfect fit to bring this benefit on since GLG already markets to small and large businesses, employee groups, families, and individuals.

After doing some careful research on the $1.7 TRILLION U.S. healthcare industry and realizing that AmeriDoc only has less than 1% of the market, it would be a fitting opportunity to market the LegalShield and AmeriDoc benefits together because like LegalShield’s 2% market penetration in the $260 BILLION legal services field, there’s virtually no competition and plenty of room for growth into the immediate future. If you enjoy sales and haven’t thought of benefits marketing in the past, you may want to think about it again. Someone one told me that “if you can find a void and fill it, you can become wealthy.” I am excited for my company as well as the industry and look forward to continuing build relationships across North America protecting families and companies. There’s no better way to be in business than doing what you enjoy by making a difference to help change other people’s lives!
