It’s All About The F Word …….Part 2

If you really want to stay FOCUSED on your business then there are a few strategies that you should take into consideration.

I am sure we are all guilty of multi-tasking at some time or another – I know I am guilty of that.  You open up your emails, your facebook, your twitter, your linkedin etc and for some reason you can’t seem to focus and keep switching from one to the other ……

Stop And Think !!

Firstly you need to stop multi-tasking …

It has been shown by researchers that people who try and multi-task are less likely to pay attention to the important tasks by being distraction with irrelevant information. You might think that you are getting things done twice as fast by multi-tasking…….NOT TRUE…….because the constant distraction means that you are much less productive than if you were to concentrate on just one task.

You need to make a list (preferably the night before) on all the tasks that you want to achieve for the following day and just focus on one at a time.  Allow yourself perhaps an hour for each but ensure that you stick to it before going onto your next task.  This is the key to being mindful and it will allow you to be in the moment and to remain focused on the task you are working on.  If you are working on that one task and your mind wanders to another task you have to do, just tell yourself ‘OK it is on the list’ and rid your mind of that thought.  If you think of a new task, just write it down quickly on a bit of paper and then forget about it until you finish your first task.  Stay focused ………

So just remember if you are working on that first task and you see an email or facebook message pop up, just forget about it and get your current task finished.  Then maybe allow yourself 10 minutes or so just to take a peek at those messages before getting onto your next task.  Not only will you complete your job much faster but you will be much happier and more focused.  It is probably better to just turn off these message notifications until you are ready to do these.

Task One Finished – Now Take a Breather !!

Close the door and forget about the outside world.  Set aside 5 minutes every morning to sit and relax in a chair and just breathe.  – yes that’s right, something we have to do to survive.  Your goal is to spend the whole 5 minutes staying focused on your breathing and not letting your mind wander.  Then just think about your breathing and remove all other distractions from your mind.  ‘Easier said than done’ you say – After enough practice your brain will begin to learn how to focus without becoming distracted and you will then be able to apply this new skill to other experiences.  Practicing mindfulness is the practice of being in the moment and with practice you will soon be able to train your brain to stay focused solely on that one task at hand.

If you find it hard to focus on just breathing in and out then try counting from 1-30 and then start counting again from 1 – you will probably still find that other thoughts come into your head but don’t worry as this is bound to happen when you first try this.  Then bring your focus back to your breathing.  You might think this sounds silly but it is an important part of your day.  For example when you see a swimmer or runner just about to start a race – why do you think you always see them taking deep breaths?  Yes they want to stay focused on the race…….                                                                                     

By doing the above you will soon be able to focus on your task in hand without getting distracted.  I also thought ‘how can this help?’ – but believe me it does ………..

You are probably thinking that meditation is only associated with spiritual pursuits and you are imagining some guru sitting on the top of a mountain, but this ancient practice has many practical benefits that could help you in your day to day routine.

If you feel that you are getting overwhelmed and struggling with your work then this simple practice of meditation could be your answer to improve this.

Meditation is excellent for reducing stress and calming the mind and once you are feeling calmer then you will find it much easier to cope with your day to day routine, being able to handle life’s challenges with much more ease.

When you think about it there are a great number of us that spend a good deal of our waking hours working and there is a good chance that your professional life is a major contributing factor for stress and anxiety.  With less stress and a calmer mind you will find it much easier to deal with your own and your client’s problems, whether you are working online or you are in a 9-5 job.

Most of our stress, anxiety and being overwhelmed that we experience over the challenges we face, which could be either personal or professional, is not based on what is actually happening but about how we are responding to it.  You have a choice on how to respond to these problems and that is where meditation gives us a new perspective on these problems allowing us to view our problems in a different light.

Meditation can also help to strengthen your intuition – when that voice inside of you knows what to do and a strong intuition will help you make better business decisions and improve relationships with others as you have a better sens of how to interact with people and be successful.

Meditation can also help with your creativity side where creative thinking serves well in all areas of life, but especially the business side.  It will allow you to come up with new ideas for your business, it will be easier to solve your problems and allow better interaction with possible customers.  If you are one of these people that does a lot of webinars or on stage speeches then a short spell of meditation beforehand should help you make the most effective presentations possible.

Does meditation seem boring to you?  Or maybe you feel a bit intimidated by it, but you will find that the stillness with it will give you peace of mind which you often do not notice because you are trying to move too fast on the outside.  Give it a chance and start off slowly.  Even just meditating for five minutes a day to start off with and then slowly increase the time as you get used to it.  It is highly recommended that first thing in the morning is the best time although I am sure you must be thinking that there is too much to do first thing in the morning and it is all rush, rush and you are probably thinking about all the things that have got to be done today and about all the things that you never got round to doing yesterday.  Well starting off with some quiet meditation is going to help to set a good general tone for the day.

Even if you just start out sitting five minutes a day or a few shorter sessions at a time. Find whenever works best for you, but right in the morning is highly recommended. We all know what it is like to experience that morning anxiety rush, thinking of all that lies ahead and all that remains undone from yesterday. Starting off with some quiet time will help set a good general tone for the day.

 

Meditation is the key to unlocking our full potential and just a short time spent every day can truly unclutter our minds and allow our bodies to naturally rebuild themselves.

 

Those who practice silent meditation believe it helps to bring them a more profound sense of awareness, inner peace and a sense of the importance of living each moment as it occurs.  In meditating, we begin to feel far more focused and alert. This can have a powerful affect on our lives and how others perceive us, helping us in the work place, at home and also in our relationships.  By allowing ourselves time to concentrate on our own needs and to become aware of unconscious feelings in the body, we can rediscover feelings of calm and refreshment not felt since childhood.

 

Whether we meditate for inner peace, clarity of mind or as a preparation to help us to become far more aware of the ‘Other World’ that surrounds us, the following steps to meditation will lead to a ‘Silent Place Within’.

 

1. Begin by meditating for ten minutes, twice a day, gradually extending that time

and building up to 30 minutes at a time.

2. Dedicate an area of your home or work place where you can sit each day.

3. Sitting in the same area will help build a positive atmosphere.  It’s a good idea to

practice at the same time each day.  Many people choose to meditate first thing in

the morning, as this is a great preparation for the rest of the day.

4. Burn scented candles and dim the lights to make this a special time.

5. Ensure your phone is unplugged and the door is locked so as not to be disturbed

when deep in meditation.  Set an alarm clock at the beginning of each session so

that you do not disturb your mediation by constantly glancing at your watch.

6. Sitting in a comfortable, well supported position is very important; nothing is more

distracting than getting cramp half way through a meditation. Wear loose,

comfortable clothing.  Rest your hands on your lap in the open position.

 

 

The object of meditation is not to blank the mind, it is to ‘still’ the mind and silence the buzz of hundreds of different thoughts and memories which constantly fill our heads. It is therefore useful to give the mind something to concentrate upon, such as visualising a beautiful flower or taking a walk in the tranquil setting of an enchanted forest or a country path.

 

Try not to force your mind to concentrate; other thoughts will pop in from time to time.  When this happens gently push them away and take control of your mind and continue to visualise on your special place. Feel your once tense muscles relax and unwind and let your life force and natural energy flow around your body. Concentrate entirely on each breath as it enters and leaves the body. If you are tired, keep your eyes open. If you feel restless, breathe long and deep and relax with every out breath. Feel your body expanding with each inhalation and contraction as you exhale. Be aware of the moments of stillness before the next breath in. As you breathe, visualise the oxygen flowing into your body’s cells, healing and nourishing them. Be aware that just as your breath comes and goes, so too, do all events and experiences – none is permanent. Let your brain become quiet and concentrate simply on the experience of breathing.

 

Have patience and remember practice makes perfect.  Meditation is an art that needs a certain amount of dedication to perfect.

It’s All About The F Word …….

No ! Not That F-Word ….  The Other One – FOCUS ……

Staying focused is so important in any business – whether you are in a 9-5 job or working online.  That is why the lack of focus has killed so many businesses, therefore it is vital that you stay focused.

I am going to tell you how focusing can help you to succeed in your business …..

It doesn’t matter what hours you are working, we have all been there.  It’s one of those days where everything is demanding your attention and needing your time.  You are checking and answering emails, maybe the phone keeps ringing, skype calls coming through whereby you end up multitasking in order to get everything done and at the end of it you feel as though you have not accomplished anything ….

When you are trying to doing all these things, it is nigh on impossible to really get stuck in and focus effectively on your work. Therefore instead of focusing and getting finished what you want to do you are spending the entire day jumping from task to task.  Then when you decide you want to finish up and close down the computer you are feeling tense and your mind is in overdrive trying to figure out the chaos !!

Because of our busy lives, it is easy to fall victim to this very unproductive approach, but as luck will have it researchers have found a powerful solution that enables you to be more effective and less stressed.   And that is mindfulness meditation.  Mindfulness is a form of meditation that is effective and easy to implement, even when you already have such a busy schedule.

You can research this yourself and you will find that it shows that people who practice mindfulness are both more happy and productive than those who do not practice this.  Researchers at Yale found that people who meditate were much more focused during the day, and not just when they were meditating.  By meditating you will experience less of the distracting thoughts that are killing your concentration.

It was also found by a study at Harvard, that if your mind wanders it creates twice as much unhappiness as actually doing something that you don’t particularly enjoy.  And this is mainly because our minds tend to wander toward negative thoughts.  Then this produces extra anxiety and unhappiness.  This means that your ability to be happy at whatever work you do, has very little to do with what you are doing and everything to do with your ability to remain focused on what you are doing.

Meditating will rid your mind of all the bad things wandering around in your head by training the brain to focus more intently.  This is a simple process of making sure that you are mentally present.  Meditating requires you to live for the moment and focus solely on what you are experiencing, rather than on what you are thinking. Practicing mindfulness will actually train your brain to maintain this focus all the time and as you gain control of your attention you will learn to become more focused and calm.

By training your brain to be mindful will ensure that you are able to spend more time making progress on what you are really wanting to work on.  You will be able to do a better job of getting through your workload and not feel stressed at the end of the day.

Video Marketing and Pure Leverage To Explode Your MLM Business !!

Video Marketing is the way to go these days to get you more exposure.

Video Marketing is one of the THE most important, or rather most important part of moving your business to a higher level.

When I was first told about this I thought ‘NO WAY, I CAN’t DO THIS’ and I have to be honest and tell you that I think I must have done about 12-15 takes before I eventually plucked up the courage to put my first video on YouTube.  I still wasn’t happy with it but as anyone will tell you, just do it and don’t worry if you make a mistake, try and laugh it off, or the dog barks (as mine do whenever I decide to make a video !!) or if you stutter and get lost for words (me again !!) or if you make a pause because you have forgotten what you were going to say (me again !!) – this will actually show that you are a real person and not a fake ………..I was worried about negative comments – I needn’t have been.

If you don’t feel confident making your first video, you could always write some notes on a piece of paper of what you want to talk about and stick it up behind your camera.  That way you will be able to keep the flow going on what you want to talk about.

When I am talking to someone I have no trouble and as many people will tell you they have trouble to stop me talking LOL – but that video fear is something that will come with practice.  The more you do the more at ease you will feel.  I still have not overcome my fears of the video making completely yet but I am getting there.  I know what I want to say before I hit the start button and then ……. OMG what do I say but the more you do it the better you will become.

Just be yourself and don’t worry – just look at the camera and imagine you are talking to a friend.  Don’t worry about dressing up and looking like the dogs ******** !  Don’t worry if you are having a bad hair day !!  – if you get an inspirational thought before you get dressed in the morning, whether in PJ’s or dressing gown, just get on and start the camera rolling ………

By making a YouTube video it can be a really exciting experience for all ages and when you think about it you could be sharing with millions of people around the world.  What better way to get yourself seen and branded.

Once you are happy with the video you have made make sure that you share it on your blog, on Facebook and your Fanpage, on Twitter, LinkedIn and any other social media sites that you belong to.  And of course to YouTube.  This is definitely a step in the right direction, so if you are like me and fear that camera, get rid of those fears and JUST DO IT !!  You will probably see a big difference in the traffic you are receiving.  Everyone has to start somewhere and practice makes perfect ……….

Worried About People Who Unsubscribe From Your Email List? …….

Dont !!

We all want to grow a big email list as we need this to get our business off to a good start but are you worried about people unsubscribing?

You shouldn’t worry about people unsubscribing you should be happy.

People will jump onto your list either from your emails, capture pages, solo ads, free ads, video advertising and blogging.

We are all trying to put out great content with useful information that is going to help people when they read your posts.  You want to try and please the people that are returning to your website so you keep giving out useful information.   It needs to be appealing to make sure these visitors return.

Are you writing with perhaps just one subscriber in your mind?  Perhaps you are treading cautiously because you are worring about losing this subscriber.

You might then find someone who is a returning visitor over and over again who might be interested in something totally different to what you have to offer so you then try to cover information for that person.  By now you know that this person is not going to join you or buy any of your products.
