How do you deal with a very bad day?

We all try to write positive and inspirational posts on the internet most of the time.

We all want to be the expert and show our best side to our audience.

I don't feel like that today.  I feel miserable and angry and hungry (yes, I am dieting!) and frustrated, and irritable, and stressed.

I have good excuses - I am in a suspended state of grief for my mother who passed in December because my Dad needs so much care.  He is very frustrating because he is confused and angry and doesn't want my sister and I to help him.  We have to try and keep him safe, but he insists that he can get out of bed himself.  Ugggghhhh.  We spend hours struggling with him day and night until he exhausts himself and goes to sleep.  Anyone will tell you that it is much more difficult to be the caretaker of a parent, because no matter how confused they are - they seem to be able to remember that they outrank you!!

  • Great post Sally, my iPad wouldn't let me comment on IBO but I can relate to this looking after my terminally ill husband. Luckily I have a lot of patience and there are more bad days than good but we get by.
  • Great point! I like talking about this stuff. There was another quote from another author, perhaps Roald Dahl, about how we grow the most in the midst of adversity, failure and loss. Discomfort is fleeting, thank God. =)
