It is always easier to follow in someone else's footsteps. Although believing in your heart and making your own choices can be daunting at times, these things are an important part of the learning process. Remember, mistakes are teachers and victories are windfalls.
Indeed, you should much rather have regrets about not doing what people said, than regretting not doing what your heart led you to, as the quote above so rightly states. You will experience true celebration if you live your life through your own heart and mind. When you are yourself, this allows you to grow. However, when you try to be someone else, this will only bring regret.
In life, you should determine if you're doing what's right for you. You should do what you do because you wanted to , not because someone else wanted you to do it.
