“Setting an example is not the main means of influencing others; it is the only means.” - Albert Einstein It should be one of your life’s goals to do your best, and in so doing, set a positive example for those around you. When you strive for excellence in every task, your result is sure to be noticed. Your actions will have the potential to affect those around you. You can not dabble in mediocrity. The reflection of excellence is critical in establishing the ability to influence others. When you become a positive role model, you will influence and encourage those around you to follow suit. More importantly, you should have strength of character and a firm commitment to do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason. This means doing what you say, when you say it. You must be able to deliver on results promised. Only substance and the final sum will matter, excuses won’t. In addition, you need to maintain a strong passion and drive for what you believe and do. Furthermore, you need to demonstrate integrity by being open, honest and fair. You need to elevate the importance of people and relationships. This will enhance your ability to relate to others in an authentic and meaningful way. Consequently, if people can trust you, you will be able to influence them. “If you would convince a man that he does wrong, do right. But do not care to convince him. Men will believe what they see. Let them see.” ? Henry David Thoreau May your day be filled with joy, love peace, harmony, happiness, wealth, good health and pleasant surprises always! Do You Look as Other Ways of Making Money? I agree Nichola, we should strive for excellence in everything we do, even in doing the most mundane and/or trivial tasks...
Thanks for your wonderful comments on my post! Bob, Terri, James, Merle and Tish thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my post. I am glad that you found value in this post.
This post is just awesome! There are many followers today that are following negative role models. I feel if we lead by more positive examples, then the result will be more leaders today. I agree its about your intention of helping, even when you feel you have nothing to give. There's an old saying about if a person doesn't have anything, they have there WORD. If you don't have that then you better stand in the back of the line and learn from someone in the front who has there's!
Great post. Character is what will keep people from forgetting how much you care. Thanks for sharing this awesome post.
Nichola I agree with your Bob's comment on character, the quote at the end by Henry David Thoreau says it all. I absolutely loved this post from beginning to end. Glad to have you in the SE community and I look forward to reading other posts from you.
Very thoughtful article, Nichola...well presented in its content & clarity... And as an addendum, "Character is about doing the right thing when nobody's looking"...
