Hi All, I am George Pierce. This post is about being stubborn. I believe that stubbornness is a major plus when it comes to an online business. Stubbornness is a major reason why I refused to quit. Stubbornness can also create some negatives which I will share shortly.
Based on my experience, I did not just believe that making money online was possible, I KNEW it was possible. Stubbornness helped me to keep that belief and knowledge, to keep on moving forward, and to not accept quitting as an option.
As a teen, I was taught a lesson which was to "Never change a good mind." The idea is that when you commit to making money online, then do not change your mind later. The reasons for your making the decision, initially have probably not changed, so your decision was a good one, then, and still is a good decision now. So be stubborn and stay stubborn and you will figure things out.
Being stubborn, however, at least in my case, can have its flaws. That is actually the reason for this post.
A little over a month ago, I implemented a strategy of putting more emphasis on longer content. This strategy was for a vintage media YT channel, Mr. P's Classic Television Fans, longer content, in this case, meant longer videos which meant primarily putting more focus on movies and compilations. Movies, of course, are longer. Compilations meant putting together more than one of some kind of vintage content such as commercials, short films, and music.
The reason for longer content was to increase what is called watch time, a measure of how long people watch your videos. The ultimate goal was and is to get more subscribers, and more watch time sends a signal to YT that people like your content, so YT sends your videos out to more people. which equals more views, along with even more watch time, and all the extra exposure adds up to more subscribers. Subscribers are up 69% so there is merit in this strategy...BUT...vintage music compilations were a bust.
About 93% of the music was not OK'd by YT. In addition, it takes time and effort to create a compilation, so music compilations, based on my experience, are NOT RECOMMENDED.
Here is where stubbornness can become a negative!
The following is one of the seven vintage songs that were OK'd by YT, so in an effort to recoup some value, I published this video which has gotten about 100 views in 4 days.
In addition, based on my research, compilations attract more views, as well as gain more watch time. People like compilations, and giving people what they like is usually an option that is going to benefit everyone concerned.
Due to a 7% YT approval rate and from a business point of view, to continue to go forward with creating a vintage music compilation is NOT a good idea.
You have probably already guessed that I continued anyway.
Due to stubbornness and fortunately instinct (I have over 20 years of experience), I continued to invest time that I possibly should have invested elsewhere. I created a music compilation.
It might get a zillion views, it might not, but I feel that I have to find out.

If the video does well. then the extra time and effort may be worth it. If it does not, I will still benefit by knowing that music compilations are not a good option. For the moment, I am going to go with not recommending this kind of compilation.
Hopefully, I am wrong. If so, I will let you know.
Thank you for reading.
Much success,
George Pierce

The compilation is presently doing terribly, but it is sincerely way too early to judge. I need to give it about 60 days before making any kind of judgment. Most of my videos do not behave like other channels, in other words, they usually 'sleep' initially and then 'wake up' later. This is backwards, it can test ones patience, but in the long run, it has a snowball effect, so it is better. If you are following my Faceless Video training, give your research and your videos a chance.
I love reading and watching your content George. And even though you have 20 years expierience you speak to people like and you can do it too. Because I agree stubborness can pay off. The one sentence that sticks out in this article, to me, it's just a personal thing, is "You'll figure it out". It brings back when I was learning how to knit and I came across a tutorial on YouTube and the lady who was teaching, said you have to do this, and you have to do that, and what she was doing looked really complicated. Then she said "You'll see when you get it". And now I know how to knit.
Your analogy is perfect. Making money online may seem daunting and complicated, once we learn, we find out that it is not. Thank you, Robin.
Catchy title and interesting topic too. I believe you'll know the truth when all is said and done. As you said sometimes being stubborn will pay off. Being stubborn actually means having a strong "WHY" in relation to making money online. Facts are facts, and hopefully your experiment goes the way you want it.
Time will tell. My instinct is usually right, even if it is not, I will still learn. Thank you, Terri.
Yes indeed and learning from experience is a great thing in my book. I have learned from many experiences.
