On June 28, 1870, an act of Congress declared December 25thto be a national holiday called Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Without Jesus, there would be no reason to celebrate December 25thas a national holiday. Jesus was and still is God's Gift offered to all.

Christmas was originally supposed to be a day off from work to celebrate the birth of Jesus, attend church services, exchange Christmas cards, sing Christmas carols, view the baby Jesus in the manger, and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Christmas is not our birthday – it's the birthday of Jesus. If you are a born-again Christian, you have already received the greatest gift – Christ living in your heart.

But, greedy merchants have successfully turned Christmas into nothing more than a day of extravagant exchanges of gifts to greatly increase their profits. Now, many are offended if they don't personally receive lots of expensive gifts. And, many feel pressured to buy gifts they can't afford often for people they may not even like. Many others receive gifts they don't even want or need and can't wait until the next shopping day so they can exchange them. How ridiculous is that!

And now, because of Political Correctness and an attempt to not offend anyone, our government is discouraging us from saying Merry Christmas, singing Christmas carols on the streets or in our public schools, displaying the baby Jesus in the Manger, and step-by-step removing God, the Bible, Crosses and Christian Statues from every facet of our society. For all practical purposes, the original meaning of Christmas has almost completely disappeared in America. Shame on them – God Cannot Be Pleased!

We believe that everyone has the right to believe in the true meaning of Christmas or not to believe. That is our individual privilege. So, if you don't want to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, don't. We won't be upset with you. But, don't try to hinder us from doing so.

We and the entire Christian Community are very offended that, because of just a few, Christmas is no longer being celebrated as the holiday it was originally intended to be.

If this is truly the case, then December 25th(Christmas) should be abolished as a national holiday and all of our politicians, other government officials, and those who do not believe in the true meaning of Christmas, if December 25thdoesn't fall on Saturday or Sunday, should consider this as just another work day, go to work, and get something meaningful done that benefits all of us and not just a few!

Regardless of what happens, we and our house will continue to thank God for His greatest gift – Jesus – who is the real reason for the season and say Merry Christmas every chance we get.

Finally, if you feel led to share this, please do.

Peace, Blessings And Merry Christmas To All,

Bill and Teddy Rogers

The day of Christ's birth cannot be ascertained from the New Testament, or indeed from any other source. Luke 2: 8 - 11 shows that shepherds were in the fields of night at the time of Jesus' birth. The book Daily Life in time of Jesus states" The flocks... passed the winter under cover; and from this alone it may be seen that the traditional date of Christmas, in the winter is unlikely to be right, since the Gospel says that the shepherds were in the fields.
