Well the first reason is the information just as you explain in your article - the GIFs are free, easy, fun and you've made them available to your target market. Second is that your presentation is short and simple - two key considerations, for me at least. You've provided value, entertained and saved my time while at it. That demonstrates knowledge of and respect for your audience, it's a smart trick to pull off.
