In addition to nutritional shakes, ViSalus makes a variety of cookies packed with nutrition. They come in chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and peanut butter, and unlike most “nutritional" cookies that have the taste of sawdust, these are really flavorful. So how come I am in the kitchen looking for a quick snack, and with a full box of these flavorful, nutritious cookies sitting on the counter, I opt instead for two high fat, sugary, chocolate marshmallow cookies? The nutritional content is practically nil. And in all honesty, their taste is not really much better! It's just a question of habit and old ones die hard! I've eaten this same brand of chocolate marshmallow cookie for years, in fact, since childhood. For me this cookie is a comfort food. I do a lot of my own baking, but during the in-between times, when my schedule is just too hectic and I haven't the time to whip up a batch of home-made, I turn to this particular brand of cookie. I can polish off several of these at one time, but with a little self control I can limit it to two. I can never seem to have just one!My regular eating habits are actually pretty good, and I’m not a junk food addict. So an occasional treat is not an issue of concern to me, and I’ll continue to enjoy my favourite chocolate marshmallow cookie. In fact, I’m enjoying one right now, while writing this post. It may not be good for me, but it is GOOD!
Thanks for sharing 'Old Habits Die Hard' It takes time to form new habits and even longer to stick with them. We need to learn the difference between true hunger and true cravings. My body is still confused about that one teehee
Totally agree with you Marlene. I am always up and down with my weight as I try to eat sensibly most of the time but then I think why should I deprive myself of what I want just to shed another couple of pound. So I attach the choc chips !!!
Hi Marlene, Hey there is nothing wrong with indulging once in a while. Life is to short to beat yourself up over something you enjoy. I by no means mean people should go and pig-out...(although I'm also guilty of this at times as well) but a snack now and then doesn't hurt as a matter of fact I think it's good for you.
Marlene I am happy to share your post for more to see. BTW I like oatmeal cookies, not a big fan of marshmallows though. I enjoyed reading your post and learning more about you. Make it a great week and I wish you much success in all you do. Glad to have you in the community,
