Keeping It Gruesome!??

12178485099?profile=RESIZE_710x

Hi All!  I am George Pierce, and this post is a reminder to give your visitors, your readers, your viewers, your subscribers, your followers, etc., what they want.  We are all prone to make one of two mistakes.  We provide our audience with what we THINK they want, or with what we want.

And a mistake that I make on purpose, again and again, is to provide people with what they need or what I believe they need.  I have an IM Training site and an IM Training channel, and that is a mistake that I make on purpose.

BUT...

If you want your online audience to grow, you have to give your audience what they want.

The process of figuring out what they want is easy and free.  Google Search and YT search will tell you what you want to know.  You can back up your searches with free tools such as Ubersuggest and TubeBuddy to help you with keywords and SEO.

I share this because I have had to push my personal preferences aside more than once, and sometimes it is not easy.

In my case, two sort of gruesome examples are the Challenger Disaster and the Richard Speck murders.  (These are a couple of several videos that I was reluctant to publish on my classic television YT channel).

The Challenger Disaster marked one of the saddest days in US, history,  In addition, the flight was being watched in many classrooms

across the nation.

The Richard Speck murders were one of the worst crimes of all time and were put on Time Magazone's list of Crimes Of The Century.

You can choose not to provide your audience with what they want, and so can I. Let's say that you or I chose not to publish what we might consider to be not fit to publish.  Although that might be OK, be careful.  Do not play censor.

As bad as we might think this content is, there may be some redeeming benefits.

So we owe it to our audience to provide them with what they want.

Thank you for reading.

Much success,

George Pierce

You made a great point in this blog post, it's all about your visitor and what they want. Make it a priority and all is well for your content such as your blog posts, Youtube videos. Thanks George Pierce once again for this information you have shared in the SE community.

These are kind of extreme examples, but, as you know, research will tell us what our visitors want, and I believe that it is in our best interest to listen.  Thank you, Terri.

In any business if you want customers you have to give them what they want. Personally in three businesses I owned I came close to bankruptcy three times. Each time it was because I wasn't giving customers what they really wanted, or didn't understand what was most important to my prospective customers. Two of those businesses I was able to turn around simply by learning what my customers really wanted, and delivering it to them. In the third case (a service business) it was not possible because I couldn't physically deliver, and couldn't find help that would either.

It is such a simple lesson yet it is easy to overlook.  Thank you, Dennis.

The larger businesses have found that by gaining every bit of information they can about their customers really helps. It costs less to offer customers something they want than to find new customers. It is important to remember word of mouth is going to happen. When customers get what they want, it is most likely going to be good word of mouth.

Absolutely, absolutely!  Thank you, Dennis. Many years ago, someone got the idea and this is close to a quote, "Let's ask our customers what they want and then give it to them."
