Over the past three years, I have had the time and the privilege of engaging in some rather in-depth reviews of the writings of some of the, shall we say contemporary, 'truth teachers'. Now when I say contemporary, I mean those teachers who published from the turn of the 20th Century up until about the early '70's. I refer specifically to Florence Scovel Shinn, Neville Goddard, Dr. Joseph Murphy, Louise Hay and Esther Hicks among others. As a group, these teachers can loosely be referred to, I believe, as 'metaphysicians'. I also believe that these teachings reflect what mystics and philosophers have been teaching for centuries. In the modern world we refer to this sphere of knowledge as the 'law of attraction'. Many of us will be familiar with Rhonda Byrne's book, The Secret.
In my own practice, over the course of almost 40 years, I came to realize that a person's self-image or, to put it another way, a person's self-concept, played a pivotal role in whether that person, speaking in the most general terms, would be a 'success' in life, . For example, if a person could be heard uttering statements along the lines of 'gosh, I never get any good breaks', well the probability would then be that that person likely would not get any good 'breaks' in life. In a phrase, 'as within so without'. In other words, you attract to yourself in the physical realm that which you think about or imagine in the unseen realm. The great American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson said that a man becomes what he thinks about all day long.
As Dr. Joseph Murphy put it in his book, The Power of the Subconcious Mind, "...there is a presence and a power within you, and you can use it, to attract to yourself health, wealth, beauty, harmony and all the riches of the Infinite..." When Neville Goddard referred to the 'wonderful, human imagination', he asserted that 'that is God'. Others have referred to that presence and power as 'source', the 'infinite', the 'universe' and, of course, others will call it God. The point behind all of this is that, once you realize that you possess the power of the infinite and that it is at your disposal, available for you to use, you move toward a position where you are able to attract to yourself all of life's blessings.
This is a topic that I love exploring and writing about and, in particular, the newest developments from practitioners like Dr. Bruce Lipton, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Gregg Braden and others, that, I believe, support and expand the notion that all of us have, in fact, full access to the power that lies within. Of course, to access the power, one has to digest, accept, internalize and embrace the reality of it's existence. However, once that threshold has been crossed, life takes on a whole new trajectory.
This is the subject that I hope to be sharing with you in the weeks and months to come. It is, as I have said, nothing new. What is really exciting are the advances that are being made as our understanding of who we truly are unfolds as we collectively make the transition from 3D to 5D and beyond.
