One of the things I always check when consulting for a company is the backlinks. Every website should have two types of backlinks. A percentage of backlinks should be no follow. In case you are wondering, yes, Google does look for no follow links, and if it doesn't find them you are penalized.

A link can be a one way link and still be a no follow. The rule of thumb is for 10 links you need three of them to be no follow. To get the no follow links people should look at websites where if the person buys that product would they might also be interested in mine? Of course they have to allow links. These should only be done with relevant comments. Google also looks at relevance to the post/blog where they find the no follow link.
