This topic is more important than ever, you should have a plan with your family in case someone does break into your homes. Criminals look for the easy target. Here are some ways to make it hard for them.
Some of these tips are just common sense, but the smallest reminders may mean the difference between life and death.
When the topic of home security springs to mind, most people seem to think of burglar alarms and little to nothing else. Alarms can be a great way to protect your home, although they are only a small part of what makes up an effective home security system. Burglar alarms are a key to protecting your home – although there are other things you’ll need as well.
Along with the windows, doors are also known to be a weakness of security around the home. Doors should always be strong and sturdy, complete with tough locks that aren’t easy to force open. If you have a spare key, you should be careful where you leave it. Losing your keys can also make you a target, especially if you have anything on your key ring that reveals your home address.
Believe it or not, the windows are actually the key to home security. Homes that have poor constructed windows tend to get broken into a lot more than homes with secure and sturdy windows.
When you are dealing with your windows, you should make sure that you have tough glass and locks that fit to the windows. When you are away from home, you should always make sure that your windows are locked. Even though some windows may be hard to reach, you should always lock them. Burglars make a living out of stealing – and they will normally find
a way in if they see the opening.

To better protect their homes, most people choose to invest in a home surveillance system. These systems are great for monitoring the home, as they can record video and keep it stored for you to view later. If you travel a lot, a home surveillance system can be an ideal way to keep a check on your home while you’re away.
Guard dogs are also common with home security as well. A guard dog can protect your home from burglars, thieves, and other types of trouble. Guard dogs can be very handy to have around, as most dogs are more than capable of scaring away trouble with their bark. The only downside to guard dogs is the fact that you’ll need to train them and ensure that they always have food and water.
Last, but certainly not least are burglar alarms. Burglar alarms can be effective to an extent, although they are primarily good for scaring thieves away. If you put an alarm in a visible location from the outside of the home, most burglars won’t even attempt to enter your home.
Even though burglar alarms are great for scaring off thieves – you’ll still need to have other areas of your home safe and secure as well to get the most of your home security.
Unfortunately, the times we live in require us to be diligent about safety. I hope these tips will be helpful to keep you and your family safe. I’m sure there are others you can think of.

Very good tips Robin Robinson and it's sad we have to do all this to be secure in our home. This is the way the world is right now.
Thank you for all these valuable tips, Robin. I live in the country, so almost everyone has dogs. We are more concerned about bears, critters, and snakes, but thank you for the reminder about people and the advice.
Thank you George for your comment, I always appreciate them. I live in Pittsburgh, but the State, Pennslyvania there are bears in the State. A lady who lives in the rural area got attacked by a bear not too long ago when she was taking out her trash. I think two legged predators are more dangerous than the four legged ones.
I lived in Morristown for about a year, about 10+ miles north of Phillie. As you say, in the rural areas, there are bears. My best critter encounter was with a deer, we were only about 20 feet apart, and I was on the road walking and the deer was crossing the road. It stopped in the middle of the road, I do not know why. The deer and I looked at each other at close range for about 10 minutes, after just a couple of minutes, I started talking to it, it did not run away and when it finally did, it disappeared up about a 45-degree incline in seconds. As you say it is the two-legged critters that are most dangerous.
Safety seems like common sense but it is something that we can take for granted, if we are not careful
Very well written, Robin, and thank you for sharing the information.
Thank you John. We especially have to be more vigilant now than ever before. I know the news keeps saying crime is down. But that's not what see. We have to protect ourselves and our families.
There's never a bad time to be reminded of the need for security in all aspects of our lives Robin, property included. So thanks for the tips and the introduction to CashJuice. The programme has been around a while now and that, in itself, is the best recommendation!
Thank you Tom. It's always nice when I get a comment from you. It's really a scary, what's happening in the US where the Cities have become very dangerous places. Many people don't realize what's going on. And it's when you're not paying attention that you can become a victim.
I'm really enjoying the Novel. I don't usually read fiction, but your Novel is not like fiction, it's based on facts. It also gives me a better insight into the complexities that make up the conflicts in Northern Ireland. Politics and religion are two issues that are always at the Center. I agree 100% with Finegal Scavey's opinion on politicians that he spoke about in the 27th chapter.
