With inflation, everyday life is becoming more expensive.
All of us (me included) need extra income to fight inflation costs.
That has led to the rise in content about extra income and side hustles.
Every "guru" and "mentor" is selling you a course, asking you to watch a video, or read about the new hot trend to start.
Most will preach on the need to become an entrepreneur.
Being an entrepreneur does have its benefits.
But most will tell you to start with a side hustle to see if you have what it takes to become a successful business owner.
What Is a Side Hustle?
A side hustle is income that you make outside of a regular job.
It is highly recommended that life now is requiring us to consider starting side hustles.
There are many options of what to choose for a side hustle, including ecommerce, freelancing, social media influencers, and more.
For me, the choices are overwhelming, and it could be the case for you as well.
The Truth Is...
Most of us are looking for a sense of purpose in our lives.
Since most of spend the majority of our day at our jobs, it is natural to try to find a side hustle that fill the needs that a job doesn't.
But if you take on another side hustle in addition to your regular 9-5, isn't that just a second job?
The answer is Yes and No!
Let me explain.
It is "yes" if you are just doing it for the money without any emotional or spiritual attachment to your work.
I say "no" if you are able to use your gifts, talents, passions, and skills to create extra income opportunities for you.
So, what does that mean?
Our lives will be easier when we are able to use our gifts and talents inside of us to make for a better quality of life.
Don't chase the money?
I know that is an oxymoron when you are trying to create income.
But do something that lets you use your gifts, talents, skills, and experience to benefit others.
Conclusion
So, you should be trying to find a way that you can bring in income using your gifts already inside of you.
If you are wondering what your skills, passions, and gifts could be, here are some things to consider.
- What do people tell you that you are good at?
- People say I would be a good "blank."
- When you spend time doing "blank," you lose track of time.
- What is the thing you do the best with the least amount of effort?
- Search online for personality and strengths tests to help you find the path you should take.
- If money wasn't important, what would you spend your days doing?
I hope this can help you to decide on the right path that you should take FOR YOU!
Not the path that some guru or YouTuber tells you to take.
But take the path the feels right for you.
Thank you so much for reading this and God bless.

When you are doing what you love it never feels like work. I will grant there is a lot to starting a business, and some parts you will most likely not like. As soon as possible let others who love doing that part do it, paid for with what you are earning. If your business or side hustle is not paying its own way, no matter how much you love it I recommend looking at what else you love doing.
Thank you and very well said.
Nice post John Cory Jackson and I call it "Your Why?"
Your why is a BIG, BIG, BIG reason that will keep you going. It's not goals. It's not money either.
Your real WHY is never money. It's about who you really are. Your driving factor must be way more than money.
When your WHY is a 99.9%, then you're here to stay and be successful.
Thank you for shaeing your awesome press release. We look forward to reading your next one in the SE community.
Very well said and I agree with you. Thank you for sharing your valuable insight and this platform.
This is excellent advice John. I like the way you explain the difference between a second job and a side hustle. A second job is just more blood sucking misery. But a Side Hustle is making money doing something that you love. And that doesn't feel like work at all.
Thank you for the compliment. That is the very point, we should spend more time doing things that feel rewarding instead of it feeling like a chore.
I am not sure that most people realize they can be selective when choosing a side hustle. Thank you for your life-changing help and advice, John.
