Hi, George Pierce, here, I have mentioned in previous SE posts about including GIFs in your emails. I believe that I was one of the first to do it.
I do not believe that I mentioned using them on your email sign-up pages. A GIF is an animated image, and a moving image is
going to get more attention. We are designed to be drawn to movement, we cannot ignore it, so animated images
can help your sign-up page as long as it is relevant, engaging, and not too short.
Below is a non-working (email sign-up is disabled) example of what you can create.
The creation is easy.
The GIF below began at a free site called Powtoon where you can make awesome videos in minutes at no cost.
Then go to giphy dot com, which is also free to turn your video into a GIF. That is it!
Thank you for reading.
Much success.,
George Pierce

The HTML did not work, so first is the animated image, and next is a snapshot of the sign-up page.
The actual sign-up page below has this GIF instead of a still image.

Such a simple, but brilliant trick to employ. Thanks for sharing this, George.
Thank you, John, glad to be of help.
Given the limited attention span of many site visitors, I can see a gif being a more successful 'grabber' where a short, sharp sales message is involved, than a lengthy video. Thanks George for your usual perceptive guidance.
Split testing will tell us for sure. Thank you, Tom. You are so right about a limited attention span, that is why our text (headline) or video or image or GIF has to make an immediate connection with our visitors, I suggest using the keywords that the pate is built around since those are the words that probably were used to find the page.
