• Make Sure Your Profile is Professional

I am sure you have also come across it many times where someone is trying to prospect you and you go to their timeline and there is this big image of a group of them hanging out in a club or pub with drinks in their hands !!  Well I don’t really want to see this and I am sure you don’t either …….

You have to present yourself in a professional manner to attract the types of people who want to seriously build a business from home. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not saying you shouldn’t be yourself.  But, network marketing is a serious profession, and if you want to recruit other top notch teammates, you must convey some sort of tact.

• Don’t Spam People – A definite No No  !!  Never Ever Spam

When I first noticed how people were spamming I used to think that they must be driving lots of people to their business, especially with so many people doing it.  WRONG !!  Now I say they are just desperate people because they can’t get anyone to join them.  WHY – they are doing it all wrong…….

The only thing worse than having no prospects is having angry and annoyed prospects. Never ever send mass messages in the hopes you’ll catch a few people who are interested in your business…it does not work. Think to yourself “why are they spamming” – they must be desparate…….

• Never Take Advantage of Your Relationships – Don’t Spoil A Relationship

One of the most tragic things on Facebook is the blatant lack of respect and courtesy people have for their “friends” because they are so focused on promoting their business. Look, Facebook is a social network, which means you should be building friendships. When someone accepts your friend request, don’t make them regret it because the first thing you send them is a link to your MLM Opportunity . I know we’ve all seen those messages:

‘Hey Bob, I see you are interested in Internet Marketing , me too! Let me share with you this amazing opportunity. I’m not trying to pitch you my business, but if you are interested, here is my link. I think you’d love it….’

This is definitely not the way to go. Get to know your friends first and build up a relationship with them first. Find out what they want and if you can help them.
Then the message finishes off with “Looking forward to learning more about you.” – not trying to pitch your business, huh !! I would think twice about a message like this …..
Not trying to pitch your business, huh! This is not what you want to do to build a successful business online , and when it comes to recruiting on Facebook, you should never, ever, send an “unsolicited link” out.

Social media is a place to get to know new people, share stories, connect through pictures, videos, and status updates. Not everyone is going to be a good fit for your business opportunity , and it is your job to connect with people first to figure that out. Reach out to your target market and find out if you can help anyone. Pitching is going to frighten them off straight away.  To be honest when someone does this to me now I never reply to them.  Sorry but that is just me …….

Teaching Your Leaders How to Lead

One of the biggest mistakes a leader can make is not giving their up and coming leaders enough opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities.  Sometimes it’s from a feeling of not wanting to “give something up”.  Sometimes it’s from not wanting to take the time to do some training.  Whatever the reason, it’s bad for both the current and upcoming leaders.  Here are a few ways that leaders can teach and encourage new leaders to lead:

1. Meetings – Have new leaders take on small roles at team meetings, and then gradually take on larger roles.  In the beginning, it may be participating in a role play.  Gradually they can work up to conducting a training session.
2. Team Calls – As you are making coaching or team calls, start by having your new leaders listen in.  When they feel comfortable, have them host the call, and you listen in.  Eventually they can take over their own team calls.
3. Newsletters – If you create team newsletters to recognize your team and their accomplishments, allow your new leaders to contribute by writing featured articles.  It’s a great way to build their credibility and confidence while having their name recognized and exposed to the team.
4. Conflict – This is one of the challenging areas when it comes to training.  When there is conflict within a team, it is hard for a new team leader to know how to handle it while making both sides happy.  Offer to be on a call with all the parties involved.  Hear all sides.  Then let everyone know they need to think about it and you’ll have another call tomorrow.  Call your new leader and ask how THEY would handle the situation based on the call.  Run through different scenarios and give your insights based on experience.  If comfortable, let him/her handle the conflict resolution call, with you listening in.

Each opportunity that you give your leaders to lead increases their confidence and abilities.  Once they are leading their team, it gives you the opportunity to develop a new leader.  Never be afraid of handing over the reins to a new leader…it’s good for both of you!

 Never Discriminate When Prospecting

When it comes to recruiting, it pays to NEVER discriminate.  I don’t mean that by anything but this…you NEVER can prejudge who you think will or will not make a great team member!  Just to shed some light on real life scenarios that often occur, I want to share a few of my experiences with you to show you what I mean.

In the world of Network Marketing, there are always examples around you to show you what you should and should not do.  After carefully watching and listening in to people’s stories about their recruiting experiences, I’ve come to observe a lot of interesting things about pre-judging people too far in advance, before they join your business.

First, I’ve seen team members get SUPER excited about someone who they think is going to be the “next big thing”.  They came over from another company and they are going to bring in 50 people from that company and take the area by storm!!  And then, not too long afterwards, they fizzle.  No one joins them and no one came along with them from their previous company.  It becomes blatantly obvious that they’re a dud, and not too long afterwards, like the magician Whodini, they disappear into thin air, with all of their shoulda, coulda woulda’s trailing behind them.

However, I’ve also seen the total opposite happen.  I’ve seen team members start off very laidback in following up with potential recruits because they didn’t think they were “really going to make it”.  I’ve seen that potential recruit get frustrated at the lack of follow up, join under another person and pass the first person up in sales, recruiting and leadership.

There have also been times when I’ve witnessed someone “passing” on a recruit.  The recruit wasn’t a huge performer, and she may not have had the “it” factor.  But she did recruit 2 people…and one of those people went on to become a national year-end sales winner.  The person who didn’t pass on the initial recruit made a good bonus while the one who passed on the “unattractive prospect” continued to live through his career with regret.

The bottom line is this, “Those you think will, won’t.  And those you think won’t, will!”.  This industry can be very tricky and it’s often challenging to determine who’s going to be a producer versus those that will simply become a number.  Either way, the best thing you can do is talk to practically everyone you know.  From your church, to the parents at your children’s school, family, friends, neighbors, lawyers, post office workers, teachers, doctors, accountants, stay at home moms, and the list goes on and on and on, with people you should share the business with.

Never underestimate someone because of his or her current “income status” or their profession.  Inside each of us is a dream that is lying dormant, and waiting for someone to come and help bring it to life.  You never know whom you can unlock from life’s miseries and struggles, and those whom you can empower by believing in them enough to present them with this amazing opportunity.

The best thing you can do is present them with the opportunity, and let them decide if they want to move forward or not.  Once you open the doors, you have no idea who you’re letting in, and the potential they will have to bring massive success to your organization, while you get the chance to embrace the experience of seeing their lives changed.

Control Your Thoughts, Control Your Life

There will come a time in everyone’s life where we will begin to notice what we are thinking, rather than just thinking that we are our thoughts. We will start to become the observer of our thoughts as if we are separate from them. This is true, because we are separate from our thoughts. Most of the time, we are thinking on autopilot with one random thought entering our minds after another.

We will see, hear or smell something that triggers a memory, and our thoughts go on a rampage. Before you know it, you are emotionally invested in an old insignificant random thought.   Although the thought that we may be thinking at the time is a random thought, if we hold that thought for less than 16 seconds another thought like it will join in and so on and so forth; thus creating a whole string of “like” thoughts.

This string of similar thoughts will then further create or activate a vibration; an emotion within your body, and before you know it you have just taken an emotional journey somewhere. Chances are this is a journey that you didn’t intend to take, and you have just created it, unintentionally.   Creating unintentionally is no fun in life, because we are unaware of the power that we are wielding around at every moment.

We are unaware that we are attracting to ourselves the very things that we don’t want, because of these constant unintended emotional excursions. Yes, our emotions are the vibrations that we put into the Universe. Every vibration delivers back to us an equivalent physical manifestation.   You may start with the thought that “I don’t have enough”, and another thought joins in that says “I don’t know how I’m going to make it”, and from there yet another thought joins in and says, “I never have enough” then up the rear comes the thought, “I’m tired of struggling” and it’s cousin chimes in with “I can’t win for losing!”.

Before you know it, you have just activated a low vibration within you that makes you feel really bad and you have just begun the manifestation process of getting more of what you don’t want.   Your life will prove your beliefs to you at every turn, and you will get more evidence of not having enough and of struggling. As you see more evidence of your thoughts, the evidence will cause you to continue more of the same thoughts. This will cause more of the same vibrations, which will bring more of the same manifestation. It is a vicious cycle!

So the question now becomes, what can I do to change or control my thoughts? Well, I’m glad you asked! The answer is simple, but simple often times leads to people not doing it. We want to complicate it, and study it and analyze it, and write papers and books about it. We want to attend seminars and be coached about it, but the truth of the matter is this:

1. Become the observer of your thoughts.
2. Be forward feeling rather than current looking.
3. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Being forward feeling rather than current looking simply means to ignore reality, and go to the feeling place of how you want your life to be. I know it’s hard to hear “ignore reality”, but the truth of the matter is that paying attention to and recording, and keeping score of the reality of the current situation of your life is only bringing more of that current situation to you, and nothing will change.

We must see the unseen and feel the feelings of that, and this practice raises our vibrations to match that which we desire, which then causes manifestation of the desire.   I know, read it a few times and let it marinate!

Or, one of my favorites – “We aren’t selling, we are sharing!”

And, so on. Sound familiar?

You may be asking – “How do you get people to buy?”

The answer is simple – by giving them stuff they want! It’s creating a situation where people buy on their own – without you coercing, or over hyping, or any of that.

It starts with asking good questions – getting to know your prospect and what he or she is really looking for. Your prospect doesn’t care what you have to say – they care about what they need. So, focus on GETTING information and not GIVING it.

Most network marketers and those in online business operate in the reverse – they start talking, sharing how “amazing” what they have is and no one else can get a word in!

We do this because we have most often been taught – if we aren’t talking, we aren’t “controlling” the conversation.

Just remember this – people buy for their own emotional reasons, not yours

You can create some motivating factors for your prospect such as – emotional triggers.

Every decision, when it comes down to it, is based on an emotional trigger. People buy with emotion, and justify it with logic.

What is your prospect’s pain? What are they looking to create more of; or less of in their life? What can your product or opportunity solve for them – THAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR?

Make sure you are developing relationships with people as you go along, especially if marketing online. People will buy when they know you, want what you are selling and BELIEVE you!

Make sure you are believable!

Forget about fancy cars, big houses and “stuff” that most people look at and say - yeah, right!

Focus on truly getting to the heart of your prospect’s needs, wants and desires and you’ll begin to see many more sign ups come your way! That is the top secret to getting the sign up!

Network Marketing Recruiting: How to Prospect A Total Stranger

Increase the success of your network marketing recruiting by learning how to share your business opportunity with total strangers.

As online marketers we get comfortable hiding behind a computer, prospecting behind the cloak of Facebook, Twitter and our Blogs. But, to become a true recruiting machine online there will be times where you will have to get out from behind the curtain, step outside of your comfort zone, and actually talk to prospects on the phone that you do not know.

Shocking but true…

As you are building a network marketing business (online or offline) you want to have a team that is willing to engage and talk to people instead of pushing links to presentation overviews.

People join opportunities not because of the products or compensation plans, but because they truly feel the person they collaborate with in business can help them achieve their goals.

Here are three of the most important steps to prospecting a total stranger:

Step 1 – Pique there interest. People in the industry are pitched all the time, sometimes to the point where they miss a great opportunity because they are so quick to dismiss it as “just another person pitching me their business”.

Asking people questions, following up with light chitchat, and leading into piquing a prospects interest is an art – something that most people don’t have the patience or tact to use. So here is an example of how to pique a prospects curiosity and open the door to see if they are even open to reviewing a new stream of income:

Script -

“Just throwing this out there, but would you be open to doing something on the side that doesn’t interfere with what you are currently doing?

I’m just curious to see if you keep your options open when it comes to making money.”

If the prospect says yes, and is open to the idea, you can reply with a clarifying question such as this one:

“So, just out of curiosity, why would you be open to making extra income from home?”

This is a great question because number one you haven’t pitched anything to them, and you now know WHY they may be interested in building their own home based business.

Lastly, instead of sharing all the great things your opportunity can do for them, let your tools and resources do the work. Take a step back and open up the door for the tools to qualify your prospect. This will do two things – 1) allow you to talk to more people, and 2) it will allow you to determine just how serious someone is about your type of business.

Remember, not everyone is going to be a good fit for your company – so before you spend your precious time telling your prospect everything there is to know about how wonderful your company and products are – let them tell you they are interested first. This step is crucial and will save you a lot of heartache.

So here is how you can direct someone to your tools:

“That sounds great, well hey, I am heading into a conference call right now, but let me get your number and email address, and I will send you some information.”

Once you grab their contact information – this is the time to end the conversation and ask them,“When would be a good time to get back with you?”

If you follow these simple steps, you will be able to prospect total strangers with ease. Prospecting, while it may seem scary, is simply about knowing what to say. Use the resources you have available to reach the people you bring into your business and these same resources will weed out the unqualified candidates without wasting their time or yours.

When you hear the term “make money at home”, most people usually think of some sort of risky scam, but there are real legitimate avenues to make money at home.

Anyone who has ever attempted to make money at home probably can tell you some stories about all the scammy things that they have come across online. However, if they were smart enough to avoid them and keep digging for the real ways to do it, then they can teach you a thing or two.  I learnt from experience and learnt it the hard way !!!

The information that I am about to share with you is nothing flashy, sexy, or glamorous. 1. Locate the “Start Here” box in the top left-hand corner

2. Click “Today’s Screened Job Leads” – This will eliminate clicking on any suspect ads that may be well disguised as jobs.

3. Scroll down until you see “Screened Work from Home Jobs for Today” – Keep in mind that new lists are posted every day, so if you don’t see a job that you qualify for just come back tomorrow.

4. Continue scrolling to see the previous day’s job postings, but avoid the Ad Choices.

Does Your Reader Know Where To Look?

Seth Godin wrote a book called “The Big Red Fez” which you can get from Amazon and it has been replaced with a pocket sized book which is all about one of the most important elements of website design.Seth’s “big red fez” is the one element on your page that stands out. That lets your reader know, without question, what you want them to do next. Therefore,  there should be a big “red fez” on every page of your website.

For most content-supported businesses, building an email list is the most important thing that you have to do. That means there must be a highly visible call to action to join your email list on all pages and posts on your site.

It may be that different pages and posts have different goals. For example, some will function as landing pages that sell a product or motivate some action.

But the principle is the same. Every individual page or post on your site must communicate precisely with what the reader should do next.

By the way, this means you need to clear all the clutter from your site.  If you have  irrelevant ads that bring in only a few dollars a month then you need to get rid of them. They’re distracting your readers about what they should do next, instead of focusing them on your business goals.

If you don’t have a product yet and you’re still struggling to pay your hosting fee, write a decent ebook and sell it via your email list. You’ll make more money selling something of your own than you ever will with advertising.

Do You Have A Professional Design?

I have to say that this is the one thing that gets very hard to be objective about.

If you designed your site yourself and you aren’t a design professional — it probably looks bad.

I know that’s harsh to hear! But someone’s got to be straight with you. If it makes you feel better, my first sites were very unprofessional looking — although I didn’t see it at the time and to be honest I still have some work to do on it.

Yes, there are some designer “tricks” you can learn to make things better. But the plain fact is, design professionals spend years developing their ability to create polished, professional-looking design that serves a business purpose.

Instead of trying to reproduce those skills in an afternoon, start with something created by a solid design pro. Then, if you really want to, tweak that, either yourself or by contracting with a design professional of your own.

You can get a great-looking site up and running for under $100, and if you decide to bring someone in to make a few customizations, they’ll be working from a solid framework. You’ll save money, time, frustration, and your site will always reflect well on your business.

Tips on Making Sure Your Site Gives an Awesome First Impression

Before reading any further I want you to go over to your website right now.

Then scrunch up your eyes and assess the design of it ignoring any written content, videos or audios that might be on there.

Even if just for a split second can you take an objective look at what you see?  And what it is communicating non-verbally.

For example:

1. Does the design look professional or as if it has been done by an enthusiastic amateur?
2. Is it instantly apparent where the reader’s eyes should first go to?
3. Is the text easy to read?  Or do you have to squint to read it?
4. Does it show with confidence that you can solve your reader’s problems?
5. Now, if you were a stranger to your site would you trust this business to be competent, capable and trustworthy?

I know if may be difficult for you to be objective as we tend to get a bit sentimental about our work and don’t notice any imperfections.

Your Website Design Says A Lot About You

If a reader sees a professional design then it automatically gives them confidence that care has been put into the content as well.  A website design that looks amateurish on the other hand could trigger the reader to look for flaws and sloppiness in the business as well !!

I know it’s not fair, but that’s how it works. Your site is judged instantly based on how it looks.

It is a lot easier than you think to make an extreme makeover, so let’s take a look at some common business damaging design mistakes and how you could quickly fix them.

Is your text easy to read?

Text that’s hard to read will suppress your conversion, social shares, traffic, and success. Here are some important improvements you can make to your sites readability:

• If you’re using white text on a dark background, don’t do anything else until you have fixed that. It makes for a miserable reading experience, and it will cut down dramatically on the links and shares you receive.
• Your text should feel like black text on a white background, even if the colors are actually very dark gray with very light gray.
• If you’re using one of those fancy textured backgrounds that’s taking forever to load — replace it. The speed of your site is an essential element of a reader friendly design.
• You need to bump up your font size and I would recommend 14pt as a good starting point.
• Now speaking about the typeface (better known as the font) I would suggest choosing readability before anything else.  It doesn’t matter how much you love all that fancy writing, hard to read typeface I would suggest in replacing it.
• Don’t use different typefaces all over your site. Choose one for your headers/subheaders and one for your body text.
• You should always underline your links. Designers love to play with more attractive ways of indicating links — sadly, none of them is as clear to the reader as underlined text is.
• When writing your paragraphs try to keep them to bite sized pieces.  It is much easier on the eye that way.
• Try and avoid very wide or very narrow columns for your text: both are hard to read. Columns that are 450-550 pixels wide tend to work very well.

Content that’s formatted to be reader-friendly is content that will get shared more freely.

Don’t Let Them Knock You Down

One of the biggest reasons people quit a home business (or never get started) is because others try to knock them down.  When I say knock down I mean, talk negative, tell you you can’t do it or that it will never work.

This can be hard for the home business entrepreneur, especially if it is a close friend or family member.  Why would someone want to do this in the first place?  I don’t have the answer for that but perhaps they are a negative person by nature.  Perhaps they are close minded or perhaps even they are jealous.  That actually happens, especially with family members.

I’m not going to get into the details on why this happens… instead I want to focus on how to prevent or minimize it when it does so you can continue on your way to success.

The 5 Things You Can Do To NOT Get Knocked Down

1. Work On Yourself

The biggest challenge we face when someone is trying to knock you down is that you self confidence can be bruised or harmed.  If we have low self esteem or we already think that we are not good enough. All it takes is one negative comment and we are down for the count.  How do you avoid that?  You have got to constantly work on SELF DEVELOPMENT.  Working to improve yourself every single day.  Listen to positive, motivating audios and videos.  Read from a self development book each day for 15 minutes.  Attend a motivational seminar.  Set goals and work on becoming a better you.

The more you work on YOU, the higher your self confidence will be and the strong your shield against the negative will be.

2. Surround Yourself With Like-Minded People

You may have heard the concept that you pretty become like the 5 people you hang around the most.  This goes for income levels, behaviors and pretty much who you are.  If are constantly around negative people who knock you down and are negative, you should focus on spending you time around people who build you up.  People sho are positive and have the same goals as you.   Overtime you will see that you will begin to change for good.

3. Eliminate Exposure To People Who Bring You Down

If you have people in your life that bring you down and are negative to you…its time to eliminate or reduce your exposure to these people.  This can be hard when one of these negative people is a close family member but even then it’s possible to find new people that will help you get to your goals and become the person you want to be.  Don’t worry… your new circle of influence will lift you up and soon you will feel better about yourself.  It’s even possible that some of the “Negative Nellies” who who brought you down before may see your change and want to follow in your footsteps!

4. Control Your Outside Influences

This is a big one.  What you surround yourself with will be a huge influence on what you become.  If you are constantly watching violent or degrading television or video games, you will probably have a hard time working on your self confidence.  If you listen to music that is degrading and depressing…well I think you can tell.  Take control of the outside influences that you allow in your life.  Keep them positive.

5. Take Action

On of the best things you can do to keep from getting knocked down is to TAKE ACTION!  Think of it like this.  When something is in motion like a river, it is clean, crisp and clear.  When water is still it becomes stagnant, stinky and full of disease.  Say for example you have a home business.  Take massive action each and every day and work hard.  When you do you will have success.  When you have success you feel better about yourself and you want to take more action!  Now when someone comes and tries to knock you down they will have no influence over you at all because you are on fire!

Taking MASSIVE ACTION is the #1 way to prevent getting knocked down.

So whatever you are doing in life, keep strong , try not to get knocked down.  If you do just get right back up!

The best sales people strive to find common ground with everyone they meet. This could be the city where they live, or are from; schools; sports; or any number of things that we might share in common with others. There is strength in building rapport.

The best sales people remain relaxed, at all times. They allow things to unfold normally and naturally. They have heart to heart conversations and listen without their own agenda always being in the forefront.  They take note of what other people want …..

The best sales people ask questions, and truly honor the other person by listening.

The best sales people work to create an atmosphere where the other person is excited and wants to buy.

The ultimate answer to the question – what is the best way to make a sale – is that there is no “one best way.”  There is no magic script, handshake that makes the sale instantly happen.

One of the best questions you can ask is – “Joe, what comes to mind when you think of moving your business forward?”
