Search Engine Paid URL Inclusion

Paid URL Inclusion



There are many ways to promote your website and one of the most efficient ways is to use search engines. Search engines are the first stop for most people trying to find information, services, and products online. Because of this, it is essential that your website appears quickly in search results.

The Internet contains numerous search engines, some of which offer what is known as "paid inclusion." This means that you pay the specific search engine an annual fee for your web page to be included in their index.

Of course, every search engine already has an automated program commonly called a "spider" that indexes all the web pages it locates online, and it does this for free. So whether you pay or not, your web page will eventually be indexed by all Internet search engines, as long as the spider can follow a link to your page. The major issue is, then, how quickly your page is indexed.

A search engine that offers a paid URL inclusion uses an extra spider that is programmed to index the particular pages that have been paid for. The difference between the spider that indexes pages for free and the spider that indexes only pages for a fee is speed. If you have paid for inclusion, the additional search engine spider will index your page immediately.

The debate over paid URL inclusion centers around the annual fee. Since the regular spider of these search engines would eventually get around to indexing your web page anyway, why is a renewal fee necessary? The fee is necessary to keep your pages in the search engine's index. If you go the route of paid inclusion, you should be aware that at the end of the pay period, on some search engines, your page will be removed from their index for a certain amount of time.

It's easy to get confused about whether you would benefit from paid inclusion since the spider of any search engine will eventually index your page without the additional cost. There are both advantages and disadvantages to paid URL inclusion, and it is only by weighing your pros and cons that you will be able to decide whether to spring for the extra cash or not.

The advantages are obvious: rapid inclusion and rapid re-indexing. Paid inclusion means that your pages will be indexed quickly and added to search results in a very short time after you have paid the fee. The time difference between when the regular spider will index your pages and when the paid spider will is a matter of months. The spider for paid inclusion usually indexes your pages in a day or two. Be aware that if you have no incoming links to your pages, the regular spider will never locate them at all.

Additionally, paid inclusion spiders will go back to your pages often, sometimes even daily. The advantage of this is that you can update your pages constantly to improve the ranking in which they appear in search engines, and the paid URL inclusion spider will show that result in a matter of days.

First and foremost, the disadvantage is the cost. For a ten page website, the costs of paid URL inclusion range from $170 for Fast/Lycos to $600 for Altavista, and you have to pay each engine their annual fee. How relevant the cost factor is will depend on your company.

Another, and perhaps more important, disadvantage is the limited reach of paid URL inclusions. The largest search engines, Google, Yahoo, and AOL, do not offer paid URL inclusion. That means that the search engines you choose to pay an inclusion fee will amount to a small fraction of the traffic to your site on a daily basis.

Google usually updates its index every month, and there is no way you can speed up this process. You will have to wait for the Google spider to index your new pages no matter how many other search engines you have paid to update their index daily. Be aware that it is only after Google updates their index that your pages will show up in Google, Yahoo, or AOL results.

One way to figure out whether paid URL inclusion is a good deal for your company is to consider some common factors. First, find out if search engines have already indexed your pages. To do this, you may have to enter a number of different keywords, but the quickest way to find out is to enter your URL address in quotes. If your pages appear when you enter the URL address but do not appear when you enter keywords, using paid inclusion will not be beneficial. This is because your pages have already been indexed and ranked by the regular spider. If this is the case, your money would be better spent by updating your pages to improve your ranking in search results. Once you accomplish this, you can then consider using paid inclusion if you want to speed up the time it will take for the regular spider to revisit your pages.

The most important factor in deciding whether to use paid URL inclusion is to decide if it's a good investment. To figure this out, you have to look at the overall picture: what kind of product or service are you selling and how much traffic are you dependent on to see a profit?

If your company sells an inexpensive product that requires a large volume of traffic to your site, paid inclusion may not be the best investment for you; the biggest search engines do not offer it, and they are the engines that will bring you the majority of hits. On the other hand, if you have a business that offers an expensive service or product and requires a certain quality of traffic to your site, a paid URL inclusion is most likely an excellent investment.

Another factor is whether or not your pages are updated frequently. If the content changes on a daily or weekly basis, paid inclusion will insure that your new pages are indexed often and quickly. The new content is indexed by the paid spider and then appears when new relevant keywords are entered in the search engines. Using paid inclusion in this case will guarantee that your pages are being indexed in a timely manner.

You should also base your decision on whether or not your pages are dynamically generated. These types of pages are often difficult for regular spiders to locate and index. Paying to include the most important pages of a dynamically generated website will insure that the paid spider will index them.

Sometimes a regular spider will drop pages from its search engine, although these pages usually reappear in a few months. There are a number of reasons why this can happen, but by using paid URL inclusion, you will avoid the possibility. Paid URL inclusion guarantees that your pages are indexed, and if they are inadvertently dropped, the search engine will be on the lookout to locate them immediately.

As you can see, there are numerous factors to consider when it comes to paid URL inclusion. It can be a valuable investment depending on your situation. Evaluate your business needs and your website to determine if paid URL inclusion is a wise investment for your business goals.

SEO, or "Search engine optimization" is a method used by experts to improve a website's search engine ranking, with the objective of having it in the search results' "top 10" or at the very least, having it in the first three pages of "search results".

Off-page SEO pertains to all the influencing factors that determine your website traffic levels and ranking which are not inside the website; they are principally links that comes in your website from other websites referred to as "link popularity"

Link popularity is a key factor utilized by the famous search engines in ranking websites.  In order for SEO, to be useful, it needs to provide valuable, authentic and educational website content as well as information at the same time maximizing "Off-Page" factors in securing good ranking in search engine positions.

Almost all search engines put a great deal of significance in a website's "link popularity". They utilize the amount of incoming and outgoing links to websites to establish the relevance of a website for specific keywords or key phrases. Take note that incoming links prove to be more significant compared to outgoing links.

Google, one of the top search engines, makes use of its "Pager Rank" or "PR" as their means in measuring the "link popularly" of a certain website. When you installed the "Google toolbar", you easily can view a web's PR.  A PR of a website is read from 0 to ten, ten being the highest. When you see a grey "PR" bar, it signifies that, that particular website have either not yet been indexed or was dropped or have been banned.

Acquiring quality links coming from good or reputable websites can be a difficult task. A reputable website only will agree to link to your website when you can offer them certain benefits.

Reciprocal Linking and how to go about it:

Reciprocal linking in simple terms means exchanging links so to enhance link popularity. This often entails sending e-mail letters to certain webmasters of your choice that you find has complementary and relevant content.  Write a polite, personalized and good e-mail letter to the "webmaster" that you want to "exchange links" with. Here are some guidelines:

1.  Download the Alexa (http://www.alexa.comand) and Google tool bars. Google "tool bar" will permit you to view the "PR" of other websites, so that you are aware which sites have great traffic and link with them. The Alexa "tool bar" supplies you with estimates of the website's traffic as well as the sites that are being linked to it.

2. Visit particular websites that you want to "exchange links" with in order that you will know what that particular website is all about.

3. Send email letters to websites which you want to be linked with.  In your letter, mention important things regarding your website and explain the benefits of having a "link exchange" for both your sites as well as both your visitors.  Place a "link" to the website and inform the webmaster as to where he can find the link. Likewise, furnish the key phrase or keywords that you need to be "linked".

4. Broadcast your willingness to "exchange links" in your website. You may use a "reciprocal linking" link or "link to us" as well as a "web-form" for possible "link partners" to enter their details.

Incoming "one way linking" and how to go about it:

Incoming "one way links" are considered by webmasters to be the best kind of links that one can for one's website, but also one that is hard to acquire. They can increase link popularity and website PR. They point out to all "search engines" that your website is an expert on key phases or keyword employed to "link" to you.

Here are some guidelines:

1. Construct an informative, good quality and educational website or unique, educational and authentic web page content. Great content is what webmaster look for so to refer you to their visitors by way of links going to your website.

2. Offer free tools and helpful service in your website.

3. Give something away for free at your website, such as quality e-books, downloadable trial software, gift or a useful program in exchange for "links".

4. Arrange an award for winners to link to your website before they can claim their prizes. Make certain that your policy is clear to everyone.

5. Allot a budget so you can pay for niche directory listing. Present excellent and relevant articles with links directing to your web home page and give your consent to webmasters to display your articles in their sites.  Link popularity will not grow overnight

Allocate a time each week just for working on building links, so that it becomes a regular habit.  Select one day each week as well as schedule the time.  You need to oblige yourself on a regular basis and make your priority, or else you can not accomplish it.

Note that "link building" is gradual and accumulating process. Over time all the links will start to add up until such time that there will be hundreds and even thousands linking to you.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is an indicator of the number of times the selected keyword appears in the web page. But mind you, keywords shouldnt be over used, but should be just sufficient enough to appear at important places.

If you repeat your keywords with every other word on every line, then your site will probably be rejected as an artificial site or spam site.

Keyword density is always expressed as a percentage of the total word content on a given web page.

Suppose you have 100 words on your webpage (not including HMTL code used for writing the web page), and you use a certain keyword for five times in the content. The keyword density on that page is got by simply dividing the total number of keywords, by the total number of words that appear on your web page. So here it is 5 divided by 100  .05. Because keyword density is a percentage of the total word count on the page, multiply the above by 100, that is 0.05 x 100  5

The accepted standard for a keyword density is between 3 and 5, to get recognized by the search engines and you should never exceed it.

Remember, that this rule applies to every page on your site. It also applies to not just to one keyword but also a set of keywords that relates to a different product or service. The keyword density should always be between 3 and 5.

Simple steps to check the density Copy and paste the content from an individual web page into a word-processing software program like Word or Word Perfect. Go to the Edit menu and click Select All. Now go to the Tools menu and select Word Count. Write down the total number of words in the page. Now select the Find function on the Edit menu. Go to the Replace tab and type in the keyword you want to find. Replace that word with the same word, so you dont change the text. When you complete the replace function, the system will provide a count of the words you replaced. That gives the number of times you have used the keyword in that page. Using the total word count for the page and the total number of keywords you can now calculate the keyword density.

Tips for Organizing Your Monthly Bills and Paperwork



Do you get hit with late fees because you forget to pay your bills on time? Do you constantly waste time searching for that cable bill you left somewhere in the house?  Spend an hour organizing your personal bills and papers now, and this will save you time and frustration in the future. Plus, this helps make tax time easier because you already have everything in one place.

First of all, have a place where you sort your mail every day.  Junk mail gets trashed or recycled right away.  Magazines and catalogs should go in a rack to read later. Open your bills, make a note of the due date and immediately put them on your desk in a small file until you write the check. A small letter file that sits on your desk works well- no need to buy any fancy tickler file unless you think that will work better for you.

It's best to start in January, but you can begin to set up your filing system at any time during the year. Use a filing cabinet or plastic storage box to store all your files.  I prefer a plastic file box because at year end I can carry it to the basement to store with other old records.

If you have more than 10 bills a month, use a separate manila folder for each company you write a check to.  I prefer to use the manila file jackets instead because they have closed sides that prevent small receipts from falling out and getting lost.

Create a folder for Miscellaneous for those people or companies you only pay once or twice each year, such as insurance or magazine subscriptions. You can also use this folder to keep those occasional letters you need to write during the year but don't know where to file them.

Make a folder for bank statements and another one labeled "For income taxes." As you pay a bill that can be deducted on your tax return (such as real property tax or medical bills), file it in this folder instead of your paid bills file. Name one folder "Investments" for any paperwork that comes regarding your 401(k) or IRA during the year.

If you pay less than 10 checks a month, you don't need a separate folder for each company-you can manage with only one file folder for all of your bills for the whole year.

Keep all your paycheck or direct deposit stubs in an envelope or folder, newest one on top. I use a regular letter envelope for mine, and always keep them until I verify that my W-2 is correct when it arrives in January.

Pay your bills as you get paid- either weekly or bi-weekly.  If you are paid monthly, chances are you will have to pay some of your bills during the month, so schedule time to pay bills every other week.  Be sure to allow a week's mailing time if you pay by check.  If you pay online, this chore will be easier, and in most instances you can set up your payment in advance of the due date.

After you write the check or pay online, be sure to mark the bill "Paid" with the date and check number before you file it in the folder you have set up.

At the end of December, create new files so you can be ready for the next year.

By organizing your bills and setting up a filing system, you will wind up spending less time on this chore every week.  And, next tax season all you will need to do is pull the file "For income taxes" to begin preparing your tax returns.

Let's be honest.

Nobody likes rules.

But the thing is, if you're serious about home organization, then there are some specific rules you'll want to follow.

You'll see how much easier organization will be by taking the following simple steps...

Home Organizing Rule #1:

"Touch it Once!"

This is a form of procrastination and it causes piles because something is being put off until later. It could be a little laziness, but more often it's due to lack of time.

The thing is, this rule will save you time.

For everything you put off until later, you're touching it twice when it should be just once. You (or someone you live with) is procrastinating and putting things off until later.

Why?

To save a couple of seconds today, you're wasting five minutes tomorrow.

For example...

You come home, throw the shirt on the bed because you're going to  hang it up or throw it in the laundry basket later.

Or you shove it on a shelf in the closet and will hang it later.

No good.

This is two steps when it should be one. Common sense? Of course.

But few practice this simple rule of home organizing.

Touch it once. The coffee cup goes in the dishwasher, not on the counter and into the dishwasher later.

The mail coming in the house should be dealt with immediately...not added to a pile where you touch it more than once for no reason at all other than procrastination.

Home Organizing Rule #2:

Keep things together that belong together.

Sweaters with sweaters. Shirts with shirts. One shelf for snacks and a shelf for cans.

Take a look around a fancy clothing store.

They're designed to help you (the customer) find exactly what you need.

Wouldn't it be nice to find whatever it is you're looking for in a matter of seconds?

Same goes for a grocery store. If these shelves weren't organized, these stores would go broke because nobody would be able to find a thing.

Home Organizing Rule #3 - Organize ONLY one space at a time.

Work on one small space at a time in set increments and try and do it every single day. It might only be for fifteen or twenty minutes, but the key is to get something organized everyday and make it consistent.

If you try and tackle too much at once, you won't get done because of an already hectic schedule. Incomplete tasks are discouraging and you might just give up.

The smaller the task, the easier to complete

And the better you'll feel.

Often organizing something as small as a junk drawer or even your wallet can give you the boost in motivation to "step it up" into a bigger project.

If you have to do the junk drawer over a two day period, big deal?

Take two days to do it.

Getting it done is the key.
